19-year old forward Markus Williams (198-F-93) had a very impressive game in the last round for Orongo and receives a Eurobasket.com Basketettan Player of the Week award for round 15. He had a double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat BG Lulea (#11, 1-12) 91-79. Orongo maintains the 8th position in Swedish Basketettan. Orongo is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-9 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Williams as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Markus Williams averages this season 5.4ppg and 5.5rpg.
Second best performed player last round was Markus Lenngren (196-F-83) of Hogsbo. He is a forward in his first season at Hogsbo. In the last game Lenngren recorded impressive double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Hogsbo lost that game 60-68 to the higher-ranked Brahe Basket (#2, 10-4). Hogsbo managed to keep the same 10th spot in South. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-9 record. Lenngren is a newcomer at Hogsbo and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.1ppg (#1). He also registered 10.1 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Marcus Grahn (183-G-95) of BG Lulea (#11). Grahn got into 30-points club by scoring 34 points in the last round. Despite Grahn's great performance BG Lulea lost 79-91 to the higher-ranked Orongo (#8, 6-9). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. BG Lulea can only dream about fighting for top spots in North. They have rather bad season and 1-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Grahn he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Grahn has a very solid season. In 11 games in Sweden he scored 10.7ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Christian Koutras (189-G-88) of Akropol - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists 5. Erik Andersson (197-G/F-87) of Taby - 26 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Richard Hartmann (201-F-89) of Akropol - 23 points and 13 rebounds 7. Filip Sjostrom (198-F-90) of Helsingborg - 26 points and 11 rebounds 8. Daniel Eliasson (190-G-92) of Orongo - 25 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists 9. William Gutenius (205-F/C-92) of Orongo - 23 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Dwight Bankhead (181-PG-83) of Malbas - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
