The teams traded baskets before Gatti made it 51:49 for the Azzurri at the end of the third period. Erin Eldebrink and Aili made it 55:52 for Sweden early in the fourth period. However Italy responded with 6:1 run to continue with a see-saw action. Giorgia Sottana (178-G-88, agency: Players Group) gave Italy a 64:60 lead with 23 seconds remaining in regulation.
