Damligan Round 21: No surprise as #1 Telge defeats IK Eos - Feb 4, 2013

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Damligan.

Damligan top team - Telge (18-2) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat tenth ranked IK Eos (5-14) 69-56. The game was mostly controlled by Telge. IK Eos managed to win second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding IK Eos to just 6 points in third quarter. Telge forced 20 IK Eos turnovers. American guard Angel Robinson (172-89, college: Marquette) stepped up and scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and her fellow American import swingman Rashada McCants (185-86, college: N.Carolina) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Telge's coach Bill Magarity used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Danish point guard Anna Seilund (174-93) with 17 points. Telge have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-2 record, which they share with Norrkoping. IK Eos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 14 games lost. Telge is looking forward to face Kvarnby (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. IK Eos will play against Visby Ladies and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked 08 Stockholm (0-20) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 20th consecutive match to third ranked Northland (15-4) 118-49. International guard Frida Aili (179-88) nailed 22 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and Josefin Vesterberg accounted for 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Northland's coach Mikael Johansson felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Naturalized Serbian swingman Vedrana Milakovic (178-86, college: Oklah.Baptist) came up with 8 points and 14 rebounds for 08 Stockholm in the defeat. Northland maintains third place with 15-4 record having four points less than leader Telge. 08 Stockholm lost their twentiethth game in a row. They still closes the standings. Northland will play against Udominate (#5) in Umea in the next round. 08 Stockholm will play at home against Solna Vikings (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Norrkoping Dolphins smashed Mark Basket 83-61 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Elisabeth Egnell who scored 20 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Ashley Key who recorded 38 points (!!!) (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). Mark Basket's coach Frank Alm gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Norrkoping Dolphins keep a position of league leader, which they share with Telge. Mark Basket lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth place with ten games lost. Norrkoping Dolphins will meet at home Sallen (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mark Basket will play against Visby Ladies and hope to secure a win.
A very interesting game took place in Stockholm. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Sallen (7-13) to ninth ranked Jarfalla (7-13) 63-62 in the game for the eighth place. It was a good game for Taneisha Harrison who saved her team from a defeat with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Jarfalla moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Sallen. Jarfalla's next round opponent will be higher ranked Udominate (#5) in Umea and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Visby Ladies will play against IK Eos in Lund and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 21 Kvarnby lost to Udominate on the opponent's court 74-91.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds by Pamela Rosanio of Udominate.



Solna Vikings - Visby 70-67

Eleventh-ranked Visby Ladies (4-14) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Solna Vikings (13-7) on Monday. Solna Vikings managed to secure only three-point victory 70-67. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 24-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Solna Vikings looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international center Katarina Andersson (191-83) stepped up and scored 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Christy Bacon (182-80, college: Wyoming) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Solna Vikings players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Michele Miller (180-85, college: Xavier) with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Earnesia Williams (185-87, college: Texas) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Visby Ladies' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Solna Vikings maintains fourth place with 13-7 record. Visby Ladies at the other side keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Norrkoping Dolphins dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Mark Basket's 32 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Norrkoping Dolphins forced 23 Mark Basket turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Rather expected game in Umea where 7th ranked Kvarnby (9-11) was defeated by fifth ranked Udominate (11-7) 91-74 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Udominate. Kvarnby was better in fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American swingman Pamela Rosanio (178-86, college: Massachusetts) stepped up and scored 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 16-of-20 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international point guard Kristina Nybom (172-89) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Udominate's coach Mikael Blomqvist allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Brittany Smart (175-85, college: Cedarville) with 21 points and 7 rebounds and German power forward Petra Glaser (196-81, college: Long Beach St.) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Udominate. They maintain fifth place with 11-7 record. Loser Kvarnby keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Udominate will face higher ranked Northland (#3) in Lulea in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
