Basketligan Round 27: Sodertalje Kings beat Uppsala Basket by three after a very close game - Feb 14, 2017

The most exciting game of round 27 in the Basketligan took place in Sodertalje. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Uppsala Basket (13-10) to third ranked Sodertalje Kings (15-5) 71-68 in the game for the third place. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 16-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Sodertalje Kings made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. It was a good game for Croatian forward Toni Bizaca (202-82, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Latvian guard Davis Lejasmeiers (192-91) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Anton Gaddefors (200-89) answered with 19 points for Uppsala Basket. Sodertalje Kings have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 15-5 record having 4 victories less than leader BC Lulea. Uppsala Basket at the other side dropped to the fourth position with ten games lost. Sodertalje Kings are looking forward to face league's second-placed Norrkoping Dolphins in Norrkoping in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Uppsala Basket will have a break next round.
Basketligan top team - BC Lulea (19-5) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked KFUM Jamtland (11-12) 89-78. It was a great evening for Canadian forward Yannick Anzuluni (205-87, college: Houghton) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Brandon Rozzell helped adding 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was American forward Mike Bruesewitz (201-90, college: Wisconsin) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. KFUM Jamtland's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BC Lulea maintains first place with 19-5 record. KFUM Jamtland at the other side keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. BC Lulea will play against Umea (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. KFUM Jamtland will play against Boras Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Umea supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Norrkoping Dolphins (16-7) played at the court of 8th ranked Umea (4-20). Norrkoping Dolphins smashed Umea 83-62 on Thursday. It was an exceptional evening for Dejan Jeftic who led the winners and scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Norrkoping Dolphins' coach Adnan Chuk felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Andre Nilsson came up with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks for Umea in the defeat. Norrkoping Dolphins maintains second place with 16-7 record having four points less than leader BC Lulea. Umea lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 20 games lost. Norrkoping Dolphins will meet at home Sodertalje Kings (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Umea will play against the league's leader BC Lulea (#1) and hope to secure a win.
The game between 9th ranked Malbas (2-21) and fifth ranked Boras Basket (13-11) in Malmo ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Boras outscored Malbas 88-57. The best player for the winners was Trayvonn Wright who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Boras Basket maintains fifth place with 13-11 record. Malbas at the other side stay dead last with 21 lost games. Boras Basket's next round opponent will be KFUM Jamtland (#6) at home. Malbas will play against Nassjo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 27 Nassjo were beaten by Uppsala on the road 80-69.

Uppsala - Nassjo 80-69

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Uppsala Basket (13-10) beat at home 7th ranked Nassjo (11-13) 80-69. It looked good early as Nassjo took a 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Uppsala Basket took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 11 points. 26 personal fouls committed by Nassjo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Alexander Lindqvist (205-91, agency: Interperformances) who scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. The former international center Carl Engstrom (216-91, college: Alabama) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Uppsala Basket players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Reginald Johnson (191-94, college: Hampton) who recorded 20 points and the other American import center Dartaye Ruffin (205-91, college: Drexel, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Uppsala Basket moved-up to fourth place. Nassjo at the other side keeps the seventh position with 13 games lost. Uppsala Basket will have a break next round. Nassjo will play at home against Malbas (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Basketligan top team - BC Lulea (19-5) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked KFUM Jamtland (11-12) 89-78. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. BC Lulea dominated on the defensive end, holding KFUM Jamtland to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to KFUM Jamtland's 32. It was a great evening for Canadian forward Yannick Anzuluni (205-87, college: Houghton) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds.
