Here is the weekly review of the top performing Swedish players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former U20 international guard Nathalie Fontaine (188-93, college: Ball St., currently plays in Germany). She led TSV 1880 Wasserburg to a victory over the eighth-ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (8-14) crushing them 87-62 in the German DBBL in Saturday night's game. Fontaine was MVP of the game. She recorded 36 points (!!!) and grabbed 6 rebounds in 27 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Fontaine's third season in pro basketball. TSV 1880 Wasserburg (20-2) is placed first in the DBBL. It was her team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. It's Fontaine's first year with the team. She has relatively good stats this season: 14.4ppg, 3.9rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 54.9% and FT: 73.7% in 22 games she played so far. Fontaine played for the Swedish U20 national team five years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Elin Eldebrink (174-88, currently plays in Turkey). She contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Botas (10-12) 83-67 in the Turkish KBSL last Monday. Eldebrink scored 9 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals. Yakin Dogu Universitesi B.G.D. (17-5) is placed first in the KBSL. It was her team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Eldebrink's first season with the team. This year she averages: 8.2ppg, 2.5rpg, 3.8apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 53.3%, 3FGP: 34.0% and FT: 86.2%. Eldebrink is in the roster of the Swedish senior national team.

   #3. The Swedish player who performed third best last week abroad was former U16 international forward Regan Magarity (190-96, currently plays college basketball in the States). She contributed to a Virginia Tech's victory against the Rider University (16-4) 76-62 in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1 on Friday night. Magarity had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 12 rebounds. She also added 3 blocks in 37 minutes. The Virginia Tech has 10-8 conference record this season. The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA. This year Magarity has relatively solid stats: 14.0ppg, 9.9rpg, 1.7bpg, 2FGP: 59.5%(131-220), 3FGP: 34.2% and FT: 68.1% in 29 games. She played for the Swedish U16 national team six years ago.

   #4. Forward Elin Gustavsson (190-93, currently studies in the States) helped Colorado St. win their game against the Saint Mary's College of California (16-2) 80-68 in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1 in Thursday night's game. Gustavsson scored 28 points (!!!), had 7 rebounds and dished 4 assists. The Colorado State University has a solid 13-6 conference record this season. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA. Gustavsson is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's her fourth year in Colorado St.'s roster. She has reliable stats this season: 14.9ppg, 6.6rpg and 1.6apg. Gustavsson used to play for the Swedish U20 national team back in 2013.

   #5. International small forward Abdi Farhiya (188-92, currently plays in Turkey) could not help Mersin BSB (11-7) in their last game. Despite her good performance Mersin BSB lost 71-79 at home to the leading Yakin Dogu BGD. Farhiya scored 10 points in 16 minutes. Farhiya's stats this year are: 12.4ppg, 4.0rpg and 2.2apg in five games. She plays currently for the Swedish national team.

   #6. Forward Mikaela Gustafsson (188-93, college: Maine, currently plays in Germany) was the main contributor in a Osnabruck SC's victory against the eighth-ranked B.Loewen (8-14) crushing them 80-50 in the German 2.Bundesliga (second division) on Sunday night. Gustafsson was the best player in that game. She scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds; not bad, considering it's only Gustafsson's third season in pro basketball. GiroLive Panthers Osnabruck SC (17-5) is placed third in North group. It was her team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. Gustafsson's overall stats this season are: 8.4ppg and 5.2rpg. She is a former U20 international player as she played for the Swedish team four years ago.

   #7. International guard Frida Eldebrink (174-88, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to help Samsun in their game against Galatasaray (15-6) in the Turkish KBSL. Eldebrink scored 9 points and added 4 passes in 36 minutes. But Samsun lost 70-75 on the road to the higher-ranked (#4) Galatasaray. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Eldebrink averaged so far 12.5ppg, 3.6rpg, 3.5apg and 1.4spg in eight games. She is also Swedish national team player.

Guard Gabriella Hanson (180-95, is currently at the American university) helped Oregon St. win their game against the Creighton University (16-2) 64-52 in the NCAA National Tournament Round 2 last Sunday. Hanson scored 13 points. The Oregon State University has rather weak 1-17 conference record this season. The National Tournament Round 2 already ended in the NCAA. Hanson has been at the team for four years. Her overall stats this season are: 6.3ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.6apg and 1.4spg. Hanson used to play for the Swedish U20 national team back in 2014.

   #9. Former international forward Danielle Hamilton-Carter (190-90, college: Georgia Tech, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Battipaglia in their game against Torino (6-15) in the Italian Serie A1. Hamilton-Carter scored 6 points. Battipaglia was defeated 71-60 on the opponent's court by the much lower-ranked Torino (#9). Hamilton-Carter's overall stats this season are: 8.9ppg and 5.0rpg. She used to play for the Swedish national team two years ago.

   #10. Forward Adriana Camber (178-97, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Iowa St. (13-6) in their game against the Syracuse University (11-5) in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1. Camber cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. She recorded only one point, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks in 11 minutes. The Iowa St. was badly defeated 85-65 on their home court in Ames by the University. The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA. This year Camber's overall stats are: 2.4ppg and 1.1rpg in 24 games. She is U20 international player who is currently on the Swedish National Team roster.

   #11. International guard Stefanie Yderstrom (173-90, college: Miami, FL, currently plays in Luxembourg) was the major contributor in Etzella's victory against the sixth-ranked Residence crushing them 86-59 in the Luxembourg Total League on Saturday night. Yderstrom scored 25 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Yderstrom has individually a very good season with high stats. She averages: 20.1ppg, 4.2rpg, 1.8apg and 2.3spg. Yderstrom plays currently for the Swedish national team.

   #12. Former U18 international swingman Lovisa Brunnberg (178-96, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the SF Austin in their game against the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1. She cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones. Brunnberg scored only 3 points in 24 minutes. Her team lost 54-62. This year Brunnberg's total stats are: 3.3ppg and 1.6rpg in 23 games. She used to play for the Swedish U18 national team back in 2014.

   #13. International guard Maria Gultekin (166-90, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Cankaya in their game against Ormanspor in the Turkish TKBL (second division), despite her good performance on Saturday night. She scored 12 points and added 4 passes in 37 minutes. But her team was edged 63-62. Gultekin has averaged so far 9.6ppg, 2.3rpg, 3.9apg and 1.6spg in 31 games. She is also Swedish national team player.


The list of other players, who all have Swedish passport but never been selected to any of Swedish national teams:

   #1. Ellen Nystrom (185-G-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Colorado St. to a victory against the Saint Mary's College of California (16-2) 80-68 in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1 on Thursday night. She scored 12 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 43 minutes. The Colorado State University has a solid 13-6 conference record this season. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA. Nystrom has individually a very good year with high stats. She averages: 15.2ppg, 8.2rpg, 5.1apg and 1.8spg in 30 games she played so far.

   #2. Hannah Henriksson (170-G-96, currently plays in Norway) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Asker (11-8) crushing them 73-35 in the Norwegian Kvinneligaen last Sunday. Henriksson recorded 6 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Ullern IF Oslo (19-1) is placed first in the Kvinneligaen. It was her team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. Henriksson has averaged so far 4.6ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.8apg.

Nici Gilday gets MVP of the Week award for Swedish Damligan - 2 days ago
American Nici Gilday (175-G-92) had a great game in the last round for Visby and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 25-year old guard had a double-double of 32 points and twelve rebounds, while her team beat KFUM Uppsala (#9, 0-4), the league's bottom-ranked team 82-75.

It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in Damligan, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team, and even winless team recording their first victory.
