The most exciting game of round 19 in the LNB took place in Nyon. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Bernex (10-9) to seventh ranked Nyon U23 (11-8) 61-59 in the game for the sixth place. Bernex was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-20 charge of Nyon U23, which allowed them to win the game. Nyon U23 have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place. Bernex at the other side dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Nyon U23 are looking forward to face Academie Fribourg (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bernex will play against the league's leader Neuchatel (#1) and is hoping to win this game. An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Geneve. Second ranked Meyrin Geneve faced 3rd placed Vevey. Host Meyrin Geneve (14-4) defeated guests from Vevey (13-6) 88-74. Pully's next round opponent will be higher ranked BC AKA (#3) in Hirschthal and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. The game with biggest result difference took place in Hirschthal. Local BC AKA (13-6) outscored 9th ranked Zurich Wildcats (6-12) 81-51 on Tuesday night. BC AKA moved-up to third place, which they share with Bern and Vevey. Loser Zurich Wildcats keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. BC AKA will face Pully (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zurich Wildcats will play against Blonay Basket and be promoted back to the LNA just one year after relegation.
In the last two games of round 19 bottom-ranked DDV Lugano were defeated by Swiss Central in Luzern 73-62. Blonay Basket beat Acad.Fribourg at home 78-70.
There was no surprise in Luzern where 14th ranked DDV Lugano (3-15) was defeated by tenth ranked Swiss Central (6-13) 73-62 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Swiss Central. DDV Lugano was better in second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The victory was the third consecutive win for Swiss Central. They maintain tenth place with 6-13 record, which they share with Pully and Blonay Basket. DDV Lugano lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Swiss Central will face league's second-placed Meyrin Geneve at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. DDV Lugano will play against Villars (#8).

American Rickey Gibson (191-G-84) had an amazing evening in the last round for SAV Vacallo and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 27-year old guard had the game-high 29 points adding six rebounds and six assists for SAV Vacallo as his team lost overtime game against Fribourg (#2, 12-4) 77-83. SAV Vacallo maintains the 5th position in Swiss LNA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season [read more]

He has many years of experience at SAV Vacallo, through which he has constantly improved. Stillman College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Gibson is league's best passer with 6.9apg. Gibson is in league's top in and averages solid 2.6spg and 60.0% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old Montenegrin Danilo Mitrovic (208-C/F-84) of SAM Massagno. Mitrovic impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Of course he lead SAM Massagno to another comfortable win outscoring slightly higher-ranked BBC Nyon (2-14) 77-55. Despite this victory they still are dead at the bottom. 14 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories SAM Massagno managed to get this year. Mitrovic is one of the most experienced players at SAM Massagno and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
The third best performed player last round was American Ronald Yates (201-F-83) of second-ranked Fribourg. Yates scored 25 points and grabbed five rebounds. He was a key player of Fribourg, leading his team to a 83-77overtime win against the lower-ranked SAV Vacallo (#5, 9-7). Fribourg needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 4 lost games. Yates has a great season in Switzerland. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.3ppg (2nd best).
