The most shocking disappointment of round 17 in the LNB was a home defeat of 4th placed Meyrin Geneve (13-4) to seventh ranked Nyon U23 (9-8) 74-65. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-65. Newly promoted Nyon U23 maintains seventh place with 9-8 record. Meyrin Geneve at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Vevey. Nyon U23 are looking forward to face Villars (#8) at home in the next round. Meyrin Geneve will have a break next round.
Bottom-ranked Swiss Central managed to get a fourth victory. This time they outleveled twelfth-ranked Academie Fribourg in Luzern 87-56. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 31-point difference suggests that Swiss Central is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. Swiss Central (4-13) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Pully. Academie Fribourg lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Swiss Central will play against higher ranked Blonay Basket (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Academie Fribourg will have a break next round.
LNB top team - Neuchatel (17-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked DDV Lugano (3-13) in Davesco-Soragno 102-60. Undefeated Neuchatel have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-0 record. DDV Lugano lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Neuchatel will meet at home BC AKA (#4) in the next round. DDV Lugano will play against Bern (#5) and hope to secure a win.
The game in Hirschthal was also worth to mention about. 4th placed Bern (12-5) played at the court of fifth ranked BC AKA (12-5). BC AKA defeated Bern 87-71. The victory was the third consecutive win for BC AKA. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Bern. BC AKA's next round opponent will be league's leader Neuchatel on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bern will play against DDV Lugano in Davesco-Soragno.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 17: Zurich Wildcats lost to Bernex on the opponent's court 66-73. Acad.Fribourg unfortunately lost to Meyrin Geneve in a home game 79-86. Blonay Basket recorded a loss to Villars on the road 74-86. Vevey crushed Pully on its own court 72-52.

Swiss Central - Acad.Fribourg 87-56

Bottom-ranked Swiss Central managed to get a fourth victory. This time they outleveled twelfth-ranked Academie Fribourg in Luzern 87-56. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 31-point difference suggests that Swiss Central is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game was mostly controlled by Swiss Central. Academie Fribourg was better in third quarter 17-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Academie Fribourg to just 7 points in second quarter.

Bernex - Zurich Wildcats 73-66

Rather expected game in Geneve where 9th ranked Zurich Wildcats (5-11) were defeated by sixth ranked Bernex (10-7) 73-66. It looked good early as Zurich Wildcats took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Bernex had a 20-14 second period charge getting the lead and Zurich Wildcats were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-73. Bernex maintains sixth place with 10-7 record. Zurich Wildcats lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. Bernex's next round opponent will be Pully (#11) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Acad.Fribourg - Meyrin Geneve 79-86

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Meyrin Geneve (13-4) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Academie Fribourg (3-14) 86-79. The guests were already 13 points ahead at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 33-21 last quarter charge of Academie Fribourg cut the lead to 86-79 at the end of the game. Meyrin Geneve moved-up to second place, which they share with Vevey. Academie Fribourg lost their eighth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Villars - Blonay Basket 86-74

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Blonay Basket (5-12) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Villars (8-9) 86-74. Blonay Basket was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 32-14 charge of Villars, which allowed them to win the game. Villars maintains eighth place with 8-9 record. Blonay Basket lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. Villars' next round opponent will be higher ranked Nyon U23 (#7) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Vevey (13-4) outscored at home 11th ranked Pully (4-13) 72-52. It looked good early as Pully took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Vevey had a 24-13 second period charge getting the lead and Pully was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 52-72.
