Lugano Tigers - Monthey 76:74

Lugano Tigers celebrated Swiss Cup title. They narrowly defeated Monthey in the Final. Mohammed Abukar (208-F-85, agency: Two Points, college: San Diego St.) stepped up with 22 points to pace the winners. Lugano thus defended their Swiss Cup title.
Monthey opened the game at the St. Leonard Arena on a high note. They established a 23:16 lead after ten minutes. Monthey stayed in charge throughout the second quarter. They piled up a 44:33 halftime advantage. But the defending champions put up the pressure on their opponents in the third term. The Tigers limited Monthey to just 14 points in the third term erasing the deficit. The teams entered the fourth frame tied at 58. Lugano used all of their experience in the final seconds to secure a narrow victory at the end. Rod Brown (186-PG-78, agency: Two Points, college: W.Michigan) produced 14 points, while Edwin Draughan (196-G/F-82, college: Yale) added 12 points in the victory. Sean Finn (212-C-82, college: Dayton) topscored for Monthey with 27 points. Terry Smith (185-PG-86, college: Mercyhurst) nailed 12 points in the loss.

5 STELLE SAM Basket Massagno Lugano (SBL) landed 26-year old Kenyan forward Tylor Ongwae (199-93kg-91, college: La-Monroe). He played in the summer at Taranaki Mountainairs in New Zealand NBL league. Ongwae managed to play in four leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 18 NBL games he averaged impressive 18.0ppg, 5.7rpg, 2.4apg and 1.8spg (in top 3). 23-year old forward Alex Welsh (200-F-94) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Winterthur and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 3. He had the game-high 35 points adding eight rebounds for Winterthur in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Pully (#5, 1-1) 80-77. Winterthur is placed at 10th position in Swiss league. NLB Round 2: BBC Nyon lose to Villars - 4 days ago
There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in NLB. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of BBC Nyon (1-1) on the court of Villars on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Villars 82-77. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-77.
