The round 10 was rather boring as all games ended with very predictable results.

LNA top team - Fribourg (9-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Neuchatel (3-7) 76-60. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-60. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fribourg made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Jamaican forward Ronald Yates (201-83, college: St.Peter's) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 4 assists. American swingman Edwin Draughan (196-82, college: Yale) contributed with 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Fribourg's coach Damien Leyrolles used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Senegalese power forward Pape Badji (206-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for Neuchatel. Fribourg have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Neuchatel lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. Fribourg are looking forward to face league's second-placed SAV Vacallo in Chiasso in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Neuchatel will play on the road against Starwings (#10) in Basel and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
The game between third ranked Geneve Lions (8-2) and 9th ranked SAM Massagno (1-9) in Geneve ended with biggest points difference. Geneve Lions outscored guests from Massagno 103-77. Croatian power forward Andrej Stimac (204-79) scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Tony Brown chipped in 22 points and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) responded with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Geneve Lions have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with SAV Vacallo. SAM Massagno lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Starwings. Geneve Lions will play against Boncourt (#6) on the road in the next round. SAM Massagno will play against Lugano Tigers to get more than just one victory in their record.

Other games in round 10 were not that significant. Bottom-ranked Starwings was smashed by SAV Vacallo on the road 76-56. Lugano Tigers won against BBC Nyon on its own court 81-71. Boncourt was outscored by Monthey in a road game 90-64.



SAV Vacallo - Starwings 76-56

No shocking result in a game when second ranked SAV Vacallo (8-2) crushed bottom-ranked Starwings (1-9) in Chiasso 76-56. It looked good early as Starwings took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then SAV Vacallo had a 27-13 second period charge getting the lead and Starwings were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 56-76. SAV Vacallo dominated on the defensive end, holding Starwings to just 4 points in third quarter. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Greek forward Mihalis Kakiouzis (206-76, agency: Interperformances) scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Hakeem Rollins (202-83, college: Washington, agency: Dream Team Management) chipped in 17 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Four SAV Vacallo players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Justin Dobbins (203-87, college: E.Michigan, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and Bahamas forward Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college: IPFW, agency: Warren Sports International) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Starwings' coach Roland Pavloski rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. SAV Vacallo have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-2 record behind leader Fribourg, which they share with Geneve Lions. Starwings lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. They share the position with SAM Massagno. SAV Vacallo will play against league's leader Fribourg on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Starwings will play against Neuchatel (#7) to get more than just one victory in their record.

The game between third ranked Geneve Lions (8-2) and 9th ranked SAM Massagno (1-9) in Geneve ended with biggest points difference. Geneve Lions outscored guests from Massagno 103-77. The game was mostly controlled by Geneve Lions. SAM Massagno was better in third quarter 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Geneve Lions made 23-of-28 charity shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Geneve Lions outrebounded SAM Massagno 36-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Lugano Tigers - BBC Nyon 81-71

Rather expected game when 8th ranked BBC Nyon (2-8) lost on the road to fifth ranked Lugano Tigers (6-4) 81-71. The game was mostly controlled by Lugano Tigers. BBC Nyon was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BBC Nyon was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. International Florent Ramseier (195-90) scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Richie Gordon (203-89, college: W.Carolina) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Lugano Tigers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Justin Rutty (200-89, college: Quinnipiac) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Marvin Owens (196-86, college: Northwood) scored 27 points. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 6-4 record. BBC Nyon lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with eight games lost. Lugano Tigers will play against SAM Massagno (#9) on the road in the next round. BBC Nyon will play against Monthey and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Monthey - Boncourt 90-64

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Monthey (7-3) rolled over at home 6th ranked Boncourt (5-5) 90-64. The game without a history. Monthey led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-19 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. American swingman Denver Holmes (193-89, college: Evansville) scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners and Bosnian forward Bozo Djurasovic (200-87) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Monthey players scored in double figures. Monthey's coach Petar Aleksic felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side international Nicolas Dos Santos (201-87) responded with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American swingman Shy Ely (194-87, college: Evansville, agency: Merit Sports) scored 16 points. Monthey maintains fourth position with 7-3 record. Boncourt at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Monthey will play against BBC Nyon (#8) on the road in the next round. Boncourt will play against Geneve Lions and hopes to get back on the winning track.

22-year old Swiss forward Brian Bennett (186-94). just graduated from Flagler (NCAA2). Bennett missed last season and had one year break from professional basketball.
As mentioned above he is just out of the college and it will be his first season as a pro.

Villars Basket (LNB) landed 21-year old point guard Elio Sabo (181-95). It is actually his comeback to Villars as he has played here before. Sabo already started the season at BBC Lausanne in LNA. He helped his team get promotion to LNA. LNB will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. American Swingman Antonio Ballard (193-G/F-88) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Geneve Lions, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 7.
