Lauren Thomas-Johnson gets MVP of the Week award for Swiss LNA - Dec 19, 2012

British Lauren Thomas-Johnson (178-G-88) put on an amazing game in the last round for Muraltese and that's her to receive a Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 24-year old guard had the game-high 35 points adding five rebounds and three assists for Muraltese in her team's victory, helping them to beat Bellinzona (#9, 1-11) 62-56. Muraltese maintains the 8th position in Swiss LNA. Muraltese is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-8 record. In the team's last game Thomas-Johnson had a remarkable 57.9% from 2-point range. She turned to be Muraltese's top player in her first season with the team.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Canadian forward Julie Seabrook (190-F-90) of Bellinzona. Seabrook impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 20 points and 19 rebounds. Bad luck as Bellinzona lost that game 56-62 to slightly higher-ranked Muraltese (#8, 4-8). Bellinzona managed to keep the same 9th spot in the standings. 11 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Bellinzona managed to get this year. Seabrook is a newcomer at Bellinzona and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.5ppg (#9). She also registered 13.5 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Chelsea Snyder (198-C-90) of Highflyers (#10). Snyder scored 13 points and grabbed nineteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Snyder's great performance Highflyers lost 41-63 to the higher-ranked Fribourg (#5, 8-4). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Highflyers can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-11 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Snyder she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Snyder has individually a great season in Switzerland. After 12 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 14.6rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Shantrell Moss (175-G-85) of Pully - 29 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Michelle Harrison (190-F-87) of Basel - 25 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Marjana Milenkovic (178-G/F-90) of Fribourg - 17 points and 11 rebounds
7. Rhona McKenzie (183-F-76) of Riva Basket - 12 points and 12 rebounds
8. Cameo Hicks (182-G/F-84) of Riva Basket - 22 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Karen Twehues (182-G-83) of Helios - 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Kirby Copeland (182-G-85) of Fribourg - 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Jenkins' 23 points and 9 rebounds give her Player of the Week award - 1 day ago

24-year old point guard Chanise Jenkins (165-PG-92, agency: LBM Management) had a very impressive game in the last round for Bellinzona and receives a Player of the Week award for round 5. She had the game-high 23 points adding nine rebounds and two assists for Bellinzona in her team's victory, helping them to beat Riva (#8, 1-3) 62-52. GS Kronos Agiou Dimitriou (A1) signed American guard Jasmine Grice (175, college: Florida A&M). She played last season at Helios in Swiss LNA league, but left.
