Host teams show no mercy winning all games.

The most exciting game of round 13 in the LNA took place in Neuchatel. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Lugano Tigers (7-6) to seventh ranked Neuchatel (5-8) 103-101 on Saturday evening. Newly promoted Neuchatel maintains seventh place with 5-8 record. Defending champion Lugano Tigers keep the fifth position with six games lost. Neuchatel are looking forward to face bottom-ranked SAM Massagno (#10) on the road in the next round. Lugano Tigers will play against the league's second-placed SAV Vacallo (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Geneve Lions (9-4) against fourth ranked Monthey (9-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Geneve Lions were defeated by Monthey in Monthey 85-73. International Jonathan Dubas (202-91) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and Feliks Kojadinovic (197-G-79) chipped in 11 points and 7 assists. At the losing side American guard Tony Brown (193-79, college: Arkansas St.) responded with 21 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Geneve Lions' coach Ivan Rudez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Monthey moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Geneve Lions. Monthey will play against Starwings (#8) in Basel in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Geneve Lions will play at home against the league's leader Fribourg (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Starwings. Arizona Reid nailed 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Jaraun Burrows came up with 13 points and 7 rebounds for Starwings in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fribourg have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-1 record. Starwings at the other side keep the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with BBC Nyon. Fribourg will meet Geneve Lions (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Starwings will play against Monthey (#4) and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 13 bottom-ranked SAM Massagno were beaten by BBC Nyon on the road 81-70.
The most impressive performance of 13th round was 25 points and 14 rebounds by Justin Rutty of BBC Nyon.


BBC Nyon - SAM Massagno 81-70

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked BBC Nyon and 10th ranked SAM Massagno had identical 2-10 record. This time BBC Nyon used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Massagno 81-70 on Saturday night. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American forward Justin Rutty (200-89, college: Quinnipiac) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Canadian forward Jean-Richard Volcy (203-82, college: N.Michigan) accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four BBC Nyon players scored in double figures. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) came up with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Tommy Freeman (195-88, college: Ohio, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 17 points respectively for SAM Massagno in the defeat. BBC Nyon (3-10) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Starwings. SAM Massagno at the other side stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. BBC Nyon will meet higher ranked Boncourt (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SAM Massagno will play against Neuchatel (#7) and hope to secure a win.

The game was mostly controlled by Monthey. Geneve Lions was better in third quarter 22-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 26-of-28 charity shots (92.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Arizona Reid (196-86, college: High Point) nailed 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and American-Jamaican forward Ronald Yates (201-83, college: St.Peter's) accounted for 15 points and 10 rebounds. Five Fribourg players scored in double figures. Bahamas forward Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college: IPFW, agency: Warren Sports International) came up with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Belgian guard Julien Rahier (193-83) added 14 points respectively for Starwings in the defeat. Round 8 in LNA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Neuchatel where host Neuchatel (3-4) edged league's leader Geneve Lions (5-2) 83-80 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 3 points. It was a great shooting night for Neuchatel especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. LNB Round 9: Vevey keeps a leadership position - 1 day ago

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Vevey as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Vevey defeated 5th ranked Pully at home 78-70. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-15. But Pully won second period 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Meyrin Basket signs Bennett just out of college - 5 days ago

22-year old Swiss forward Brian Bennett (186-94). just graduated from Flagler (NCAA2). Bennett missed last season and had one year break from professional basketball.
As mentioned above he is just out of the college and it will be his first season as a pro.
