Here is the weekly review of the top performing Swiss players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Thabo Sefolosha (199-84, agency: ACMT, currently plays in NBA). He led Oklahoma City Thunder to an easy victory against the Houston Rockets (16-14) crushing them 124-94 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. Sefolosha scored 15 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 31 minutes on the court. The Oklahoma City Thunder has a very good 23-6 record this season. Sefolosha has relatively good stats this year: 7.2ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.6apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 52.6%, 3FGP: 39.6% and FT: 87.5% in the 29 games he played so far. He played for the Swiss senior national team one years ago.

Clint N'Dumba-Capela
Clint N'Dumba-Capela
   #2. Second place goes to U18 international forward Clint N'Dumba-Capela (204-94, currently plays in France). N'Dumba-Capela managed to help ES Chalon-Sur-Saone to win against the 11th-ranked Limoges CSP Elite (3-10) 83-77 in the French ProA last Saturday. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. ES Chalon-Sur-Saone (9-5) is placed first in the ProA. This season N'Dumba-Capela averages: 1.8ppg, 2.0rpg, 2FGP: 55.6% and FT: 12.5%. He played for the Swiss U18 national team in 2011.

   #3. The Swiss player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Greg Brunner (201-83, college: Iowa, currently plays in Italy). Brunner contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Air Avellino (3-9) crushing them 91-64 in the Italian SerieA on Sunday night. He scored 7 points and added 3 passes in 20 minutes. Trenkwalder Reggio Emilia (6-6) is placed seventh in the SerieA. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. It's Brunner's first season with the team. Brunner belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #3 with 8.5rpg. This year his other stats are: 12.1ppg, 1.9apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 53.1% and FT: 65.7% in the 11 games. Brunner is a naturalized American. Despite he played previously for the USA university national team, Brunner is currently a member of the Swiss senior national team. Strangely he has never played in Switzerland.

   #4. Power forward David Ramseier (203-87, currently plays in France), who plays in the French ProA could not help Boulazac Basket (4-10) to beat JDA Dijon (6-8). Ramseier scored 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. The bottom-ranked Boulazac Basket was defeated 58-46 on the road by the higher-ranked JDA Dijon (#10). It was Boulazac Basket's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Ramseier's overall stats this season are: 6.9ppg and 4.2rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Swiss and French. Ramseier is also Swiss national team player.

   #5. Former international guard Christophe Varidel (188-89, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the Florida Gulf Coast in their game against the University of Maine (0-0) in the NCAA. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 21 minutes. The Florida Gulf Coast lost 78-84 in Orono, ME to the University of Maine. This year Varidel's overall stats are: 6.9ppg and 4.2rpg in the nine games. He used to play for the Swiss national team two years ago.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Swiss passport:

   #1. Alex Vaenerberg (183-G-92, currently plays in Finland) managed to help Salon Vilpas Vikings to win against one of league's weakest teams UU-Korihait (4-15) crushing them 102-65 in the Finnish Korisliiga on Friday night. Vaenerberg scored only 1 points and added 5 passes. Salon Vilpas Vikings (7-12) is placed eighth in the Korisliiga. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. Vaenerberg's total stats this season are: 7.8ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.5apg. He has a dual citizenship: Finnish and Swiss.

22-year old Swiss forward Brian Bennett (186-94). just graduated from Flagler (NCAA2). Bennett missed last season and had one year break from professional basketball.
As mentioned above he is just out of the college and it will be his first season as a pro.

Villars welcome back Sabo - 4 days ago

Villars Basket (LNB) landed 21-year old point guard Elio Sabo (181-95). It is actually his comeback to Villars as he has played here before. Sabo already started the season at BBC Lausanne in LNA. He helped his team get promotion to LNA. LNB will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. The last season Sabo played also at Lausanne where in 19 LNB games he averaged just 2.7ppg and 1.3rpg. He contributed to his team winning the LNB title (twice). Ballard number one in Switzerland for round 7 - 5 days ago

American Swingman Antonio Ballard (193-G/F-88) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Geneve Lions, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 7. The 28-year old player had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Massagno (#9, 2-4) 81-74. It allowed Geneve Lions to consolidate first place in the Swiss LNA.
