Helios and Ovronnaz-Martigny reached the Swiss Cup Final. They overcame Muraltese and Riva Basket respectively in the semifinals on Saturday.
Helios had no problems against Muraltese edging those 115:40. Helios built a 67:22 halftime lead and never looked back on the way to the victory. Karen Twehues (182-G-83, college: Cincinnati) stepped up with 34 points for Helios. Tomas Csaszari (91) and Sarah Kershaw (180-SF-85) delivered 18 points apiece for the winners. Candice Bellocchio (167-G-89, agency: Two Points, college: Hofstra) responded with 10 points for Muraltese.
Ovronnaz-Martigny faced a much tougher test. They took on Riva Basket. Ovronnaz-Martigny seemed to cruise when they led 51:30 at halftime. But Riva Basket adjusted their performance in the second half. They trimmed the deficit 15-point mark at the final break. Riva Basket outgunned their opponents 18:10 in the fourth period but came up short of victory at the end. Lia Volpe (163-PG-86) produced 22 points, while Ildiko Szakacs (187-F-81) had 16 points for the winning side. Cameo Hicks (182-G/F-84, college: Washington) responded with 40 points for Riva Basket.
