Fourth-ranked Monthey (10-8) made lots of trouble for first ranked Fribourg (16-2) on Saturday. The visitors from Fribourg managed to secure only three-point victory 75-72. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-72. The best player for the winners was American forward Arizona Reid (196-86, college: High Point) who scored 17 points. The other American import power forward Darrius Garrett (205-90, college: Richmond) chipped in 8 points and 15 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Bosnian forward Adnan Hodzic (203-88, college: Lipscomb, agency: Pro One Sports) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds. Fribourg have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-2 record. Monthey lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Lugano Tigers. Fribourg are looking forward to face Starwings (#8) in Basel in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Monthey will play on the road against Lugano Tigers (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. SAM Massagno will play against bottom-ranked BBC Nyon (#10) at home in the next round. Boncourt will play against Neuchatel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 18 BBC Nyon were defeated by SAV Vacallo in Chiasso 94-84. Lugano Tigers smashed Starwings at home 103-79.
The best stats of 18th round was 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists by Dusan Mladjan of Lugano Tigers.



Boncourt - SAM Massagno 68-75

Bottom-ranked SAM Massagno managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the two-game losing streak. This time they won against seventh-ranked Boncourt 75-68. Geneve Lions - Neuchatel 103-73

The game with biggest result difference took place in Geneve. Local Geneve Lions (14-4) outscored 6th ranked Neuchatel (9-9) 103-73 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Neuchatel. The game was mostly controlled by Geneve Lions. Neuchatel managed to win second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Geneve Lions shot 60.7 percent from the field and made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game. Geneve Lions outrebounded Neuchatel 28-14 including a 23-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Geneve Lions especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Neuchatel's players. There was no surprise in Chiasso where 9th ranked BBC Nyon (3-15) was defeated by third ranked SAV Vacallo (13-5) 94-84 on Saturday. BBC Nyon was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 29-12 charge of SAV Vacallo, which allowed them to win the game. SAV Vacallo had a 34-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. SAV Vacallo looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by BBC Nyon's players. American guard Rickey Gibson (191-84, college: Stillman) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Larry O'Bannon (194-83, college: Louisville, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 22 points and 5 assists during the contest. Lugano Tigers U23 (LNB) signed American forward Kendyl Grover (203). He just graduated from Adams St. College (NCAA2). He played 22 games where he had 11.5ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.0apg last season. The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Vevey as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Vevey defeated 5th ranked Pully at home 78-70. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-15. But Pully won second period 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
