30-year old forward Markel Humphrey (198-F-86, agency: Three Eye Sports) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Monthey and receives a Court Side Player of the Week award for round 18.
He had the game-high 30 points adding seven rebounds and two assists for Monthey in his team's victory, helping them to beat Geneve Lions (#4, 10-6) 90-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Monthey was forced-out from the top positions in Swiss league. They are still close to the very top. Monthey would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 13-3 record. In the team's last game Humphrey had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Monthey's top player in his first season with the team. Markel Humphrey averages this season 15.3ppg and 6.3rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Karl Cochran (185-G-92) of Lausanne. He is American guard in his first season at Lausanne. In the last game Cochran recorded impressive 33 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course Lausanne cruised to a 95-83 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Boncourt (#8, 6-11). Lausanne's 10th position in the standings has not changed. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Lausanne managed to get this year. Cochran is a newcomer at Lausanne and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.5ppg (#2). He also recorded 3.9 assists per game.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Shane Southwell (201-F/G-92) of Winterthur (#11). Southwell showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, five rebounds and six assists in the last round. He was a key player of Winterthur, leading his team to a 88-69 easy win against the higher-ranked Starwings (#6, 9-7). Winterthur can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-14 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Southwell he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Southwell has a very solid season. In 6 games in Switzerland he scored 16.8ppg. He also has 4.3rpg, 3.3apg and and 3PT: 47.1%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Brandon Young (193-G-91) of Monthey - 24 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Nemanja Calasan (204-C-85) of Boncourt - 20 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Anton Wilson (196-G-94) of Lausanne - 28 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Richard Carter (180-PG-92) of Boncourt - 25 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Milton Jennings (206-F-90) of Winterthur - 18 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Travis Taylor (203-F-90) of Fribourg - 17 points and 8 rebounds
10. Brian Savoy (189-SG-92) of Neuchatel - 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Court Side. Court Side is the global leader in basketball management, and is widely regarded as the most dynamic and innovative company of its kind. It was the first Basketball Agency to launch its own website, and the first to have its own database. Court Side has more agents and manpower within its organization, than any other competitor, and its international network of basketball contacts is still unparalleled.
