LNB Round 18: Leader Vevey gets another victory - Mar 5, 2017

The Regular Season in LNB is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds.

Leader Vevey delivered the fifteenth win on Saturday night. This time they beat 6th ranked GC Zurich (5-13) 71-59. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 40-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Vevey (15-3) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position. GC Zurich at the other side keeps the sixth place with 13 games lost. Vevey are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Lug.Tigers U23 (#8) in Lugano in the next round and are hoping to win another game. GC Zurich will play on the road against Villars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Lug.Tigers U23 (0-18) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 97-34 loss to fourth ranked Pully (12-6) in Pully. Pully maintains fourth position with 12-6 record. Lug.Tigers U23 at the other side still closes the standings. Pully will play against league's second-placed BBC Nyon on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Lug.Tigers U23 will play against the league's leader Vevey (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Fribourg supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked BBC Nyon (13-5) played at the court of 7th ranked Academie Fribourg (5-14). BBC Nyon smashed Academie Fribourg 94-55 on Saturday. BBC Nyon moved-up to second place, which they share with Meyrin Basket. Academie Fribourg lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 14 games lost. BBC Nyon will meet at home Pully (#4) in the next round. Academie Fribourg will play against Meyrin Basket in Geneve and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 18 Villars were defeated by Meyrin Basket in Geneve 75-62.

Acad.Fribourg - BBC Nyon 55-94

The game in Fribourg supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked BBC Nyon (13-5) played at the court of 7th ranked Academie Fribourg (5-14). BBC Nyon smashed Academie Fribourg 94-55 on Saturday. The game without a history. BBC Nyon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Meyrin Basket - Villars 75-62

There was no surprise in Geneve where 5th ranked Villars (9-8) were defeated by third ranked Meyrin Basket (13-5) 75-62 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 13 points. Meyrin Basket have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with BBC Nyon. Loser Villars keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Meyrin Basket will meet at home Academie Fribourg (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Villars will play against GC Zurich and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Union Neuchatel Basket (LNA) signed 25-year old Dominican guard Bryan Colon (181-92). It is actually his comeback to Neuchatel as he has played here before. Colon played this summer at Indios de San Francisco in LNB league in Dominican Republic. But in only one game he did not score anything. The last season Colon played at Union Neuchatel Basket where in 29 LNA games he had 4.9ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.0apg. He helped them to make it to the Supercup final.
