Shawn
Taggart
American forward Shawn Taggart (207-F-85) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for TED Istanbul, receiving a Eurobasket.com TB2L Player of the Week award for round 23.
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 36 points and 12 rebounds, while his team edged out Istanbulspor (#17, 6-16) 81-77. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. TED Istanbul maintains the 20th position in Turkish TB2L. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked at the very bottom. They already lost 18 games and recorded just four victories. In the team's last game Taggart had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at TED Istanbul, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Shawn Taggart averages this season 17.0ppg and 10.6rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old American Tyrone Nelson (206-F-85) of Akhisar Bld. Nelson had a very good evening with a double-double of 20 points and 16 rebounds. Of course Akhisar Bld cruised to a 72-63 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Pertevniyal (#16, 9-13). Akhisar Bld's 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 15-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Nelson is well-known at Akhisar Bld and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.8ppg (#1). He also registered 11.1 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Recai Ozturk (198-F-82) of Baskent Genclik (#13). Ozturk showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, five rebounds and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Baskent Genclik, leading his team to a 86-72 easy win against the lower-ranked Usak (#19, 6-16). The chances of Baskent Genclik ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 13 games, recording just nine victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Ozturk could help Baskent Genclik to bring them higher in the standings. Ozturk has a very solid season. In 22 games in Turkey he scored 14.4ppg. He also has 5.1rpg and FGP: 57.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Tyrus Boswell (202-F/C-78) of Tire Gucu - 17 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Korvotney Barber (201-F-87) of Istanbulspor - 21 points and 13 rebounds
6. Marquise Gray (206-F/C-86) of Baskent Genclik - 26 points and 7 rebounds
7. Murat Goektas (201-G-87) of Gaziantep - 23 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Sertay Gursu (195-G-87) of Gelisim - 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Orbay Kaya (205-F/C-82) of Balikesir - 24 points and 7 rebounds
10. Antabia Waller (188-G-88) of Gaziantep - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
