Quarterfinals, Game 3: Kayseri - Samsun 85-61 (2-1)

Kayseri grabbed last ticket for the Playoff Semifinals in Turkey. They hosted Samsun tonight in crucial Game Three of the QFinals and registered easy 85-61 victory. It means that Kayseri won the series with 2-1. Their rival in the Semifinals will be Galatasaray. First game is scheduled for Wednesday and Galatasaray will have the home court advance in this series. The game was mostly controlled by Kayseri. Samsun managed to win second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kayseri dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Samsun's 42. Kayseri had a 36-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American center Nakia Sanford (194-76, college: Kansas, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 rebounds. Her fellow American import LaToya Sanders (191-86, college: N.Carolina) helped adding 14 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Kayseri's coach Ayhan Avci felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Gokce Dogan (173-86) with 11 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Deniz Colakoglu (185-87, agency: 1x1 Sports) scored 17 points. Kayseri finished regular season as No.3 with 14-8 record. Galatasaray was the second ranked team with 19-3.
