After 5 rounds played we can already see who rules in the TB2L and who belongs to weaker ones. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team and favorites losing the games.

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Usak (4-1) in Ankara on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by twelfth ranked Pi Koleji (3-2) 77-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Usak. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Usak won third quarter 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pi Koleji made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Usak helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and guard Berkay Sahillioglu (183-88) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. American forward Justin Carter (193-87, college: Creighton, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pi Koleji moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 7 other teams. Usak at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Darussafaka. Pi Koleji is looking forward to face Istanbulspor (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Usak will play against Balikesir (#5) and is hoping to win this game.

Trabzonspor's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Justin Knox (205-89, college: N.Carolina) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for Vestel in the defeat. Trabzonspor moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 7 other teams including defeated Vestel. Trabzonspor will play against Final Genclik (#12) in Bursa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vestel will play on the road against Izmir BSB (#18) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
TB2L top team - Selcuk Universitesi (5-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat sixteenth ranked Yesilgiresun (1-4) in Konya 75-58. The best player for the winners was Ufuk Gurgen who scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Selcuk Universitesi's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Alex Gordon produced 9 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the guests. Undefeated Selcuk Universitesi have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Newly promoted Yesilgiresun dropped to the fifteenth position with four games lost. They share it with Istanbulspor. Selcuk Universitesi will meet Akhisar Bld (#4) on the road in the next round. Yesilgiresun will play against Gelisim (#8) in Izmir.

Arthur Johnson stepped up and scored 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Istanbul B.B. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 7 other teams. Izmir BSB lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost. Istanbul B.B. will face Pertevniyal (#13) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Izmir BSB will play at home against Vestel (#11) in Manisa and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 5: Akhisar Bld won against Balikesir on the opponent's court 58-47. Maliye Milli managed to outperform Istanbulspor in a home game 91-82. Bandirma Kir. recorded a loss to Final Genclik on the road 79-72. Gelisim defeated Pertevniyal on its own court 75-66.



Darussafaka - Baskent Genclik 73-51

Bottom-ranked Baskent Genclik (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Darussafaka (4-1) 73-51. The game without a history. Darussafaka led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vestel to just 6 points in second quarter. American guard Henry Antwan Dobie (183-78, college: LIU Brooklyn) nailed 20 points and 8 assists for the winning side and naturalized Azerbaijani forward Rasim Bashak (200-80, agency: Court Side) accounted for 12 points and 5 rebounds. There was a minor upset in Bursa where higher ranked Bandirma Kir. (2-3) was defeated by fourteenth ranked Final Genclik (2-3) 79-72 on Friday. Bandirma Kir. was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 26-12 charge of Final Genclik, which allowed them to win the game. Guard Mustafa Gucyetmez (188-80) stepped up and scored 21 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and point guard Erdem Ilter (-90) chipped in 17 points. Four Final Genclik players scored in double figures. American forward Gilbert Brown (198-87, college: Pittsburgh) responded with 20 points and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Raymond Sykes (206-86, college: Clemson, agency: Three Eye Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Final Genclik moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Pertevniyal and Bandirma Kir. Final Genclik will face higher ranked Trabzonspor (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
