The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with derby games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#1) and Besiktas (#6). Galatasaray (8-0) won against visiting Besiktas (4-4) 64-60. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-12. But Besiktas won third quarter 16-6. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Galatasaray won last quarter 21-19. American guard David Hawkins (194-82, college: Temple) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 4 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Senegalese center Boniface Ndong (213-77) contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Slovenian power forward Gasper Vidmar (211-87) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for Besiktas. Besiktas' coach Erman Kunter rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Galatasaray have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Defending champion Besiktas keeps the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Aliaga. Galatasaray are looking forward to face Karsiyaka (#5) on the road in the next round. Besiktas will play against Antalya and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Bottom-ranked Mersin managed to get a second victory. This time they won against fourteenth-ranked Antalya 96-86. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Omar Sneed (198-76, college: Memphis) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and David Holston who added 18 points and 6 assists during the contest. Guard Ron Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St.) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Mersin (2-6) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Antalya. Mersin will play against higher ranked Aliaga (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Antalya will play against Besiktas (#7) in Istanbul and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Aliaga between Aliaga and TED Kolejliler. Ninth ranked Aliaga (4-4) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked TED Kolejliler (3-5). Aliaga managed to escape with a 2-point win 70-68 on Sunday evening. The winners were led by Torin Francis who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds by Jovo Stanojevic did not help to save the game for TED Kolejliler. Aliaga moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Besiktas. TED Kolejliler lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Aliaga will meet at home Mersin (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TED Kolejliler will play against the league's second-placed Anadolu Efes (#2) in Istanbul and hope to secure a win.
A very interesting game took place in Ankara. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 13th ranked Olin Edirne (2-6) to twelfth ranked Turk Telekom (3-5) 81-78 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was Dee Brown who scored 29 points and 5 assists. Turk Telekom moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Olin Edirne lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. Turk Telekom's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Gaziantep (#16) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Olin Edirne will play against Erdemir (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between 11th ranked Hacettepe (2-6) and fifth ranked Karsiyaka (6-2) in Ankara on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Karsiyaka outscored Hacettepe 79-52. Alade Aminu orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Karsiyaka maintains fifth position with 6-2 record. Hacettepe lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with six games lost. Karsiyaka will face league's leader Galatasaray in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hacettepe will play on the road against Tofas (#11) in Bursa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 8: Erdemir was beaten by Anadolu Efes on the road 76-72. Bottom-ranked Gaziantep lost to Fener.Ulker on its own court 69-86. Tofas unfortunately lost to Banvit BK in Balikesir 77-85.

Anadolu Efes - Erdemir 76-72

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Anadolu Efes (7-1) beat 7th ranked Erdemir (3-5) in Istanbul 76-72 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 26-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American point guard Jordan Farmar (188-86, college: UCLA) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 6 assists. The other American import Jamon Lukas Gordon (191-84, college: Virginia Tech) contributed with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Anadolu Efes' coach Oktay Mahmudi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Gerrod Henderson (192-78, college: Louisiana Tech) replied with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists and guard Melih Mahmutoglu (193-90) added 16 points in the effort for Erdemir. Four Erdemir players scored in double figures. Anadolu Efes have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Fener.Ulker and Banvit BK.
