Point guard Mehmet Yagmur (188-PG-87) had a great game in the last round for Olin Edirne, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (28 points, six rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Erdemir (3-6) 91-82. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. Olin Edirne is placed at 10th position in Turkish TBL. Olin Edirne is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-6 record. In the team's last game Yagmur had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He turned to be Olin Edirne's top player in his first season with the team. Mehmet Yagmur has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 18.1ppg) and averages impressive 68.8% FGP and 48.1% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was 28-year old American Jermareo Davidson (208-F-84) of Antalya. Davidson had a very good evening with 33 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Antalya lost that game 69-86 to the higher-ranked Besiktas (#6, 5-4). This loss caused Antalya to drop to 15th position in the standings. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Antalya managed to get this year. Davidson is a newcomer at Antalya, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-F-80) of Mersin (#12). Karadeniz got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for twelve rebounds . He was a key player of Mersin, leading his team to a 82-73 win against the higher-ranked Aliaga (#8, 4-5). The chances of Mersin not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 6 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Karadeniz could try to bring Mersin's a little bit higher in the standings. Karadeniz has individually a great season in Turkey. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.3ppg (2nd best). Ali Karadeniz has also Turkish passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Gerrod Henderson (192-G-78) of Erdemir - 29 points and 4 rebounds
5. Joey Dorsey (206-C/F-83) of Gaziantep - 10 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Omer Onan (194-G-78) of Fener.Ulker - 22 points and 2 assists
7. Isaiah Swann (188-G-85) of Gaziantep - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Kirk Penney (196-G-80) of TED Kolejliler - 25 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Kerem Gonlum (208-PF-77) of Anadolu Efes - 19 points and 8 rebounds
10. Chinemelu Elonu (206-F/C-87) of Tofas - 15 points and 9 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

DI Buyukcekmece extends coach Civgin - May 26, 2016

The newcomer of Turkish Basketball League, Demir Insaat Buyukcekmece Basket achieved great things at their first season. They worked hard for a play-off spot till the last game of the regular season and they finished the season with the record of 14-16. With an insignificant budget they built a competitive team and they fought well especially at home. They won against Fenerbahce, Banvit and Galatasaray. Of course the coach, Ozhan Civgin is one of the most important part of this success s...   [read more]
