The most interesting game of round 14 in the TB2L was a home defeat of 7th ranked Akhisar Bld (8-6) to fifth ranked Trabzonspor (9-5) 77-70. Akhisar Bld trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 29-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 70-77 at the end of the game. Trabzonspor dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Akhisar Bld's 16 and made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Akhisar Bld 40-24 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international guard Firat Aydemir (187-80) scored 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Kadir Cipa (205-88) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Guard Guven Esmer (193-80) responded with 27 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trabzonspor have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 9-5 record, which they share with Yesilgiresun. Akhisar Bld at the other side keeps the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Vestel. Trabzonspor is looking forward to face league's second-placed Usak at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Akhisar Bld will play against Izmir BSB (#18) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
TB2L top team - Selcuk Universitesi (12-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat eighth ranked Vestel (8-6) in Konya 83-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Vestel. American Bill Clark (195-88, college: Duquesne) notched 11 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and Jeremy Granger supported him with 20 points. Selcuk Universitesi's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 29 points by American guard Antabia Waller (188-88, college: Auburn) did not help to save the game for Vestel. Selcuk Universitesi have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-2 record. Vestel at the other side dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Akhisar Bld. Selcuk Universitesi will play against Final Genclik (#9) in Bursa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vestel will play at home against Gelisim in Izmir and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Izmir BSB at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Yesilgiresun will meet at home Pertevniyal (#11) in the next round where they are favorite. Izmir BSB will play against Akhisar Bld (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 14: Baskent Genclik won against Istanbulspor on the opponent's court 84-80. Balikesir unfortunately lost to Final Genclik in a home game 66-76. Maliye Milli managed to beat Pertevniyal on the road 90-81. Pi Koleji was crushed by Darussafaka on its own court 63-83. Istanbul B.B. was beaten by Gelisim in Izmir 73-66.


Usak - Bandirma Kir. 88-68

Fourth ranked Usak (11-3) crushed at home 14th ranked Bandirma Kir. (5-9) by 20 points 88-68, which is the biggest margin this round. The game without a history. Usak led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Usak forced 20 Bandirma Kir. turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Bandirma Kir.'s players. 24 personal fouls committed by Bandirma Kir. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Eric Buckner (208-90, college: Georgia St., agency: David Lee services) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. Not a big story in a game in Istanbul where 10th ranked Pertevniyal (6-8) was defeated by fourth ranked Maliye Milli (11-3) 90-81. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But Pertevniyal won third quarter 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maliye Milli players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Pertevniyal helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Zach Graham (198-89, college: Mississippi) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Umit Turkoglu (211-81, agency: 1x1 Sports) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Maliye Milli's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Center Ramazan Tekin (212-93) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized FYR Macedonian Cedi Osman (195-95) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Pertevniyal. Four Maliye Milli and five Pertevniyal players scored in double figures. Maliye Milli moved-up to second place, which they share with Darussafaka and Usak. Pertevniyal at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Maliye Milli's next round opponent will be Istanbul B.B. (#13) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Pertevniyal will play against Yesilgiresun in Giresun.

Darussafaka led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Serbian center Aleksandar Petrovic (204-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Center Cihan Mumcuogullari (207-83, college: Concordia, MI) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Darussafaka players scored in double figures. Darussafaka's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84) replied with 20 points and 6 rebounds and guard Berkay Sahillioglu (183-88) added 10 points and 8 assists in the effort for Pi Koleji. Darussafaka moved-up to second place, which they share with Usak and Maliye Milli. Pi Koleji lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with 11 games lost. Darussafaka's next round opponent will be Balikesir (#12) at home and are hoping to win another game. Pi Koleji's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Ankara to the arena Baskent Genclik.
