Dusko Savanovic gets MVP of the Week award for Turkish TBL - Jan 1, 2013

Dusko
Savanovic
Serbian Dusko Savanovic (204-PF-83, agency: Beo Basket) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Anadolu Efes and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 13.
The 29-year old power forward had the game-high 22 points adding four rebounds for Anadolu Efes in his team's victory, helping them to crush Tofas (#10, 5-8) with 23-point margin 94-71. Anadolu Efes is placed at 2nd position in Turkish TBL. They are still close to the very top. Anadolu Efes would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 11-2 record. It's Savanovic's second year at Anadolu Efes and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Dusko Savanovic averages this season 9.8ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-F/C-87) of Tofas. Elonu impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Tofas lost that game 71-94 to the higher-ranked Anadolu Efes (#2, 11-2). This loss caused Tofas to drop to 10th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-8 record. Elonu is a newcomer at Tofas and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was American Ali Karadeniz (203-F-80) of Mersin (#12). Karadeniz got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds . Despite Karadeniz's great performance Mersin lost 85-88 to the higher-ranked TED Kolejliler (#7, 8-5). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Mersin not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 9 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Karadeniz could try to bring Mersin's a little bit higher in the standings. Karadeniz has individually a great season in Turkey. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.2ppg (best scorer). Ali Karadeniz has also Turkish passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Jordan Theodore (182-PG-89) of Antalya - 23 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Kirk Penney (196-G-80) of TED Kolejliler - 30 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Torin Francis (210-C-83) of Aliaga - 19 points and 10 rebounds
7. Jon Diebler (198-G-88) of Karsiyaka - 24 points and 4 rebounds
8. Emir Preldzic (205-SF-87) of Fener.Ulker - 15 points, 2 rebounds and 9 assists
9. Mutlu Akpinar (203-C/F-83) of Gaziantep - 19 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Jovo Stanojevic (208-C-77) of TED Kolejliler - 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
