American Tyrone Nelson (206-F-85) had an amazing evening in the last round for Akhisar Bld and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com TB2L Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 27-year old forward had a double-double of 27 points and fifteen rebounds, while his team beat Pertevniyal (#13, 6-10) 73-68. Akhisar Bld maintains the 7th position in Turkish TB2L. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Akhisar Bld will need more victories to improve their 10-6 record. Nelson has many years of experience at Akhisar Bld, through which he has constantly improved. New Mexico State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Nelson is in league's top in points (5th best: 19.1ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 10.2rpg) and averages solid 2.9spg and 61.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old American forward Justin Knox (205-F-89) of Vestel. Knox impressed basketball fans with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course he lead Vestel to another comfortable win 80-67 over the lower-ranked Istanbul B.B. (#14, 6-10) being unquestionably team leader. Vestel's 8th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 10-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Knox is a newcomer at Vestel and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.1ppg (#4). He also registered 8.6 boards per game. University of North Carolina alumni Knox played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

The third best performed player last round was American Derek Williams (185-G-85, agency: Pro One Sports) of Maliye Milli (#3). Williams showcased his all-around game by recording 28 points, five rebounds and six assists in the last round. He was a key player of Maliye Milli, leading his team to a 122-119 win against the lower-ranked Yesilgiresun (#6, 10-6). Maliye Milli is closer and closer to the top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 13-3 record is not that bad... Williams has a great season in Turkey. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.6apg (6th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Aubrey Reese (183-G-78) of Baskent Genclik - 28 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
5. John Ofoegbu (206-C-84) of Yesilgiresun - 22 points and 14 rebounds
6. Robert Lowery (188-PG-87) of Balikesir - 23 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Jurica Zuza (207-C-78) of Trabzonspor - 22 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Kervin Bristol (208-F-88) of Istanbulspor - 15 points and 16 rebounds
9. Ahmet Cantitiz (193-SG-92) of Bandirma Kir. - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Ismail Cevik (206-F-81) of Yesilgiresun - 16 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Tony Crocker
Crocker number one in Turkey for round 27 - 3 days ago
American Forward Tony Crocker (200-F-87) put on an amazing game in the last round for TOFAS, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 27. The 29-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, four rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Usak (#14, 8-19) 82-69. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Tofas maintains the 9th position in Turkish BSL. Tofas is a typical sol...   [read more]
