The round was exceptionally exciting as three games ended with a tiny margin. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games, favorites losing the games, games ending by tiny margin and even winless team recording their first victory.

TB2L round 17 caused change at the leadership position. Fourth defeat of league's leader Selcuk Universitesi (13-4) against fifteenth ranked Baskent Genclik (7-10) 72-70 was the most important game of the last round. Selcuk Universitesi trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 25-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 70-72 at the end of the game. American forward KZell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Aubrey Reese (183-78, college: Murray St., agency: Interperformances) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Hadi Ozdemir (203-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for Selcuk Universitesi. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Baskent Genclik have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Bandirma Kir. and Istanbul B.B. Selcuk Universitesi at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Maliye Milli. They were replaced at the leadership position by Usak. Selcuk Universitesi will play next round against Bandirma Kir. trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Baskent Genclik will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Gelisim in Izmir.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Maliye Milli (13-4) against eighth ranked Vestel (11-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Maliye Milli was defeated by Vestel in a tough game in Manisa 80-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Maliye Milli. American forward Justin Knox (205-89, college: N.Carolina) stepped up and scored 31 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and Antabia Waller chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) responded with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Maliye Milli's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Vestel have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Maliye Milli at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Selcuk Univ.. Vestel will play against Final Genclik (#10) in Bursa in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Maliye Milli will play on the road against Akhisar Bld (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Izmir BSB's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 16 consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Istanbulspor (3-14) 73-71 on Saturday. Mustafa Surmen nailed 19 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side. Izmir BSB's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Kervin Bristol came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds for Istanbulspor in the defeat. Newly promoted Izmir BSB maintains eighteenth place with 1-16 record. It was Istanbulspor's eighth loss in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Pi Koleji. Izmir BSB will meet at home higher ranked Pi Koleji (#17) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Istanbulspor will play against Pertevniyal in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
TB2L top team - Usak (14-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifteenth ranked Pertevniyal (6-11) in Istanbul 85-76. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was Justin Carter who scored 27 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Usak have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-3 record. Pertevniyal lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Usak's next round opponent will be Yesilgiresun (#4) in Giresun. Pertevniyal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Istanbulspor.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 17: Balikesir beat Bandirma Kir. on the road 75-73. Yesilgiresun won against Akhisar Bld on its own court 85-75. Pi Koleji was outscored by Trabzonspor in a road game 75-43. Final Genclik recorded a loss to Istanbul B.B. at home 66-76.


Darussafaka - Gelisim 83-85

Important game to mention about took place in Istanbul. Ninth ranked Gelisim (9-8) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Darussafaka (11-6) 85-83 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 23-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Darussafaka was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Jermaine Dearman (202-80, college: S.Illinois) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. TB2L top team - Usak (14-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifteenth ranked Pertevniyal (6-11) in Istanbul 85-76. It looked good early as Pertevniyal took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Usak had a 26-20 second period charge getting the lead and Pertevniyal was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-85. They outrebounded Pertevniyal 49-36 including 17 on the offensive glass. Usak brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. 32 personal fouls committed by Pertevniyal helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. Izmir BSB's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 16 consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Istanbulspor (3-14) 73-71 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 12 points after three quarters before their 26-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Mustafa Surmen (-88) nailed 19 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side and Cem Bozok (-91) accounted for 14 points. Izmir BSB's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Kervin Bristol (208-88, college: Fordham) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds and the other American import guard Charles Hinkle (195-88, college: the other American import) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Istanbulspor in the defeat. Newly promoted Izmir BSB maintains eighteenth place with 1-16 record. It was Istanbulspor's eighth loss in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Pi Koleji. Istanbul B.B. dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Final Genclik's 34. American power forward Arthur Johnson (206-81, college: Missouri) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Ahmet Bugrahan (-94) contributed with 19 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Istanbul B.B. players scored in double figures. American forward Marshall Moses (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Erdem Ilter (-90) added 17 points in the effort for Final Genclik.
