Besiktas' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 13 consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Tarsus Bld (9-5)on the road game in Mersin 81-64 on Sunday. The game without a history. Besiktas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Besiktas forced 19 Tarsus Bld turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Besiktas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Montenegrin forward Milka Bjelica (193-81, agency: LBM Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Montenegrin power forward Milica Jovanovic (189-89) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American Delisha Milton-Jones (186-74, college: Florida, agency: Josep and Nicolas) replied with 15 points and 7 rebounds for Tarsus Bld. Besiktas (1-13) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with Edremit. Tarsus Bld at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Mersin. Besiktas is looking forward to face higher ranked Ceyhan Bld (#6) in Adana in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Tarsus Bld will play at home against Botas in Adana and is hoping to win this game.
TKBL top team - Fenerbahce (14-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat ninth ranked Canik Bld (6-8) in Istanbul 84-66. American Angel McCoughtry (187-86, college: Louisville) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Ivana Matovic chipped in 17 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Fenerbahce's coach Roberto Iniguez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Cheryl Ford (191-81, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Undefeated Fenerbahce have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-0 record. Canik Bld lost third consecutive game. Galatasaray's coach Ekrem Memnun used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 10 points and 16 rebounds by Kayla Pederson did not help to save the game for Ceyhan Bld. Galatasaray have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-2 record having just two points less than leader Fenerbahce. Loser Ceyhan Bld keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Botas and Antakya. Galatasaray will meet at home Samsun (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
