TKB2L Round 14: Nallihan loses the game and top position in their group - Jan 21, 2013

There was a change at the TKB2L leadership position after last games. Round 14 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Nallihan (12-2). They were defeated by second ranked Botas (12-2) 70-58 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Nallihan. It was a key game for the top position in Group A. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-58. Botas forced 24 Nallihan turnovers. Center Tilbe Senyurek (188-95) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Pelin Bilgic (170-94) chipped in 13 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals during the contest. American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: Indiana NW) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 26 rebounds. Nallihan's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Botas have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group A leader, which they share with Nallihan and Altay Konak. Nallihan will play next round against Celtispor trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Botas will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Dizdar in Istanbul.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Izmir. Third ranked host Altay Konak (12-2) defeated 4th ranked Dizdar (9-5) 64-54. American forward LaToya Thomas (188-81, college: Mississippi St., agency: Ronsport) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Seda Guclu supported her with 9 points and 4 assists. Altay Konak's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 16 points and 5 steals by Merve Uygul (-88) did not help to save the game for Dizdar. Altay Konak keeps a position of Group A leader, which they share with Nallihan and Botas. Newly promoted Dizdar keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Altay Konak will play against 55 Genclik (#5) in Samsun in the next round. Dizdar will play at home against the league's leader Botas in Adana and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Istanbul. One of their biggest challengers host Asistanbul (7-6) lost to third ranked Orman (10-2) 83-71. The best player for the winners was Chasity Melvin who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Arzu Ozyigit produced 15 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the hosts. Orman have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Orman maintains third position in Group B with 10-2 record behind leader Orduspor. Asistanbul lost third consecutive game. Asistanbul at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Izmir BSB. Orman will meet at home Nevsehir Uni. (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Asistanbul will play against Mersin Univ. (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Hatay. 4th ranked host Sirince (9-5) lost to second ranked Edirne (12-2) 87-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sirince. Susan Lester orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Edirne's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Edirne have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group C with 12-2 record having just -3 point less than leader Orduspor. Newly promoted Sirince keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Edirne's next round opponent will be Bigaspor (#8) in Canakkale where they are favorite. Sirince will play on the road against Sakarya (#7).
TKB2L top team - Orduspor (11-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Nevsehir Uni. (2-10) 90-48. Miranda Ayim had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Orduspor have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group B with 11-1 record. Newly promoted Nevsehir Uni. keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Orduspor will face Harranspor (#9) in Sanliurfa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nevsehir Uni. will play on the road against Orman in Ankara.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 14:
In Group A Yalova destroyed Celtispor on the opponent's court 85-50. Yunus was outscored by 55 Genclik in a home game 62-101.
In Group B Bursa BSB rolled over Harranspor on the road 88-63. Anadolu Univ. was crushed by Izmir BSB on its own court 55-81.
In Group C Gure smashed Bigaspor in Balikesir 77-42. Winless Nigde T.T. was destroyed by Sakarya at home 30-50. Balcova lost to undefeated Cankaya on the opponent's court 51-110.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 33 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 5 assists by Nola Taylor of 55 Genclik.



Group A
Celtispor - Yalova 50-85

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Celtispor's (1-13) home loss to eighth ranked Yalova (3-11) 50-85 on Sunday. The game without a history. Yalova led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Celtispor to an opponent 24.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Yalova forced 39 Celtispor turnovers and outrebounded them 51-39 including 22 on the offensive glass. Melis Eren had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Zuhal Saltabas chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Yalova players scored in double figures. Bengu Seden Esen (-95) responded with 35 points (!!!) and Buse Nur Erdogan scored 5 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Yalova maintains eighth position in Group A with 3-11 record. Celtispor lost fifth consecutive game. Celtispor at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Yalova will face Bakospor (#10) in Gaziantep in the next round. Celtispor will play on the road against Nallihan in Ankara.

They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Yunus' 36. They outrebounded Yunus 47-33 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. 55 Genclik looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Nola Taylor (188-87, college: Tex.A&M-Comm.) had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 5 assists (on 16-of-20 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and center Neslihan Ozkan (-93) chipped in 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest.
