Sixteenth-ranked Olin Edirne (3-14) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Banvit BK (15-2) on Sunday. The visitors from Balikesir managed to secure only two-point victory 69-67. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American-Azerbaijani center Charles Davis (205-84, college: Alabama) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points and 4 assists. American point guard Kalin Lucas (185-89, college: Michigan St.) contributed with 10 points for the winners. Banvit BK's coach Orhun Ene used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Belarusian center Artsiom Parakhouski (210-87, college: Radford) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for Olin Edirne. Banvit BK have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fener.Ulker. Olin Edirne lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Antalya and Hacettepe. Banvit BK is looking forward to face Erdemir (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Olin Edirne will play against Hacettepe (#15) in Ankara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
TBL top team - Fenerbahce Ulker (15-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat seventh ranked TED Kolejliler (9-8) in Ankara 92-74. Bosnian-Croatian Bojan Bogdanovic (203-89) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and Bo McCalebb chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Forward Nedim Yucel (203-79) responded with 14 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Fenerbahce Ulker. They maintain first place with 15-2 record, which they share with Banvit BK. Newly promoted TED Kolejliler keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Fenerbahce Ulker will play against Mersin (#12) in Akdeniz in the next round which should be an easy win for them. TED Kolejliler will play on the road against Gaziantep (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Istanbul was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Karsiyaka (14-3) played at the court of 6th ranked Besiktas (11-6). Karsiyaka defeated Besiktas 70-59 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Besiktas. Will Thomas nailed 16 points for the winning side. Serhat Cetin came up with 20 points for Besiktas in the defeat. Besiktas' coach Erman Kunter rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Karsiyaka. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Anadolu Efes and Galatasaray. Defending champion Besiktas keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Karsiyaka will meet Turk Telekom (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Besiktas will play against Tofas (#9) in Bursa and hope to secure a win.
Tenth-ranked Aliaga (6-11) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Galatasaray (14-3). The visitors from Istanbul managed to secure only one-point victory 78-77. However their fans expected much easier game. The best player for the winners was Jamont Gordon who scored 14 points and 6 assists. Galatasaray's coach Ergin Ataman allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Galatasaray. They maintain third place with 14-3 record behind leader Fener.Ulker, which they share with Anadolu Efes and Karsiyaka. Aliaga lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. Galatasaray's next round opponent will be Anadolu Efes (#5) in Istanbul. Aliaga will play on the road against Anadolu Efes (#5) in Istanbul.

Gaziantep will play at home against TED Kolejliler (#7) in Ankara.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 17: Hacettepe was smashed by Anadolu Efes on the road 91-61. Antalya lost to Turk Telekom on its own court 77-88. Tofas managed to outperform Mersin in Bursa 88-85.
The most impressive performance of 17th round was 22 points and 6 rebounds by Miha Zupan of Turk Telekom.


Anadolu Efes - Hacettepe 91-61

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Anadolu Efes (14-3) crushed 14th ranked Hacettepe (3-14) in Istanbul 91-61 on Monday. The game without a history. Anadolu Efes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hacettepe's 32. Anadolu Efes forced 20 Hacettepe turnovers and outrebounded them 34-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. International Birkan Batuk (196-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 5 rebounds. International Kerem Gonlum (208-77) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. American forward Ricardo Marsh (207-81, college: ODU) answered with 22 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Polat Kaya (197-86) added 9 points in the effort for Hacettepe. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Anadolu Efes moved-up to third place, which they share with Karsiyaka and Galatasaray. Hacettepe at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Anadolu Efes will face Aliaga (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hacettepe will play against Olin Edirne (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

TED Kolejliler - Fener.Ulker 74-92

TBL top team - Fenerbahce Ulker (15-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat seventh ranked TED Kolejliler (9-8) in Ankara 92-74. The game was mostly controlled by Fenerbahce Ulker. TED Kolejliler was better in fourth quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bosnian-Croatian Bojan Bogdanovic (203-89) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and American-FYR Macedonian point guard Bo McCalebb (178-85, college: New Orleans) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Forward Nedim Yucel (203-79) responded with 14 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) and American point guard Ben Woodside (180-85, college: N.Dakota St., agency: Priority Sports) scored 8 points and 9 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Fenerbahce Ulker. They maintain first place with 15-2 record, which they share with Banvit BK. Newly promoted TED Kolejliler keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Fenerbahce Ulker will play against Mersin (#12) in Akdeniz in the next round which should be an easy win for them. TED Kolejliler will play on the road against Gaziantep (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Antalya - Turk Telekom 77-88

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 14th ranked Antalya's (3-14) home loss to thirteenth ranked Turk Telekom (5-12) 77-88 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Turk Telekom. Antalya was better in second period 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Turk Telekom looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Antalya's players. Slovenian power forward Miha Zupan (205-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Baris Guney (193-83, agency: 1x1 Sports) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. American guard Ron Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St.) answered with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import point guard Jordan Theodore (182-89, college: Seton Hall) added 23 points in the effort for Antalya. Turk Telekom moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Gaziantep and Mersin. Antalya at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Turk Telekom will face higher ranked Karsiyaka (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Tofas (7-10) edged 12th ranked Mersin (5-12) in Akdeniz 88-85 on Sunday. Tofas made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Tofas outrebounded Mersin 40-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Mersin was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. Lithuanian guard Mindaugas Lukauskis (198-79) contributed with 21 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners. Tofas' coach Ahmet Caki used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard David Holston (170-86, college: Chicago St., agency: Priority Sports) answered with 22 points and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the other American import guard J.P. Prince (201-87, college: Tennessee) added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Mersin. Five Mersin players scored in double figures. Tofas moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Erdemir. Mersin lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Tofas will face higher ranked Besiktas (#6) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mersin will play at home against the league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
