Here is the weekly review of the top performing Turkish players, who play currently abroad.


Omer Asik
Omer Asik
   #1. This week's number one is former international center Omer Asik (213-86, currently plays in NBA). He led Houston Rockets to a victory against the Charlotte Bobcats (11-39) 109-95 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. Asik had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks in 38 minutes on the court. The Houston Rockets have 28-24 record this season. It's Asik's first year with the team. Asik has relatively good stats this year: 10.3ppg, 11.5rpg, 1.1bpg, 2FGP: 53.1% and FT: 55.3% in the 52 games he played so far. He played for the Turkish senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Enes Kanter (208-92, college: Kentucky, currently plays in NBA). Kanter contributed to an Utah Jazz's victory against the Milwaukee Bucks (25-24) 100-86 in the NBA last Wednesday. He scored 17 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and made 5 blocks; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Kanter's second season in pro basketball. The Utah Jazz has 28-24 record this season. This year Kanter averages: 6.4ppg, 4.1rpg, 2FGP: 54.5% and FT: 74.3%. He is in the roster of the Turkish senior national team.

   #3. The Turkish player who performed third best last week abroad was former international forward Ersan Ilyasova (207-87, currently plays in NBA). Ilyasova contributed to a Milwaukee Bucks' victory against the Orlando Magic (14-36) 107-98 in the NBA on Saturday night. He recorded 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and made 2 blocks in 34 minutes. The Milwaukee Bucks have 25-24 record this season. Ilyasova has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 11.1ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.6apg, 2FGP: 44.4%, 3FGP: 44.2% and FT: 77.2% in the 47 games. Ilyasova played for the Turkish national team two years ago.

   #4. Forward Deniz Kilicli (206-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped W.Virginia edge the The University of Texas (2-8) 60-58 in the NCAA in Monday night's game. He scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The West Virginia University has 5-6 conference record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Kilicli is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in W.Virginia's roster. This season Kilicli has relatively solid stats: 11.1ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.6apg. He used to play for the Turkish U20 national team back in 2010.

   #5. Former international forward Hidayet Turkoglu (206-79, currently plays in NBA) faced previously mentioned Ersan Ilyasova in the NBA last game. Turkoglu, who plays in the NBA could not help the Orlando Magic (14-36) to beat the Milwaukee Bucks (25-24). He did not have that impressive stats last Saturday. Turkoglu recorded only 2 points in 5 minutes on the court. The Orlando Magic lost 98-107 on the road to the Bucks. It was Magic's 12th consecutive loss in a row. This year Turkoglu's overall stats are: 2.9ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.1apg in the 11 games. He used to play for the Turkish national team two years ago.

   #1. Baris Aktas (193-F-91, currently plays in Romania) managed to help CSU Atlassib Sibiu to win against the league outsider CS Dinamo Bucuresti (0-20) crushing them 110-46 in the Romanian Liga Nationala on Saturday night. Aktas scored 5 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished 3 assists. CSU Atlassib Sibiu (10-11) is placed tenth in the Liga Nationala. It's Aktas' first season with the team. His total stats this year are: 1.5ppg and 1.2rpg. Aktas has a dual citizenship: Turkish and Romanian.

   #2. Kevin Kaspar (183-PG-92, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to W.Kentucky's victory against the University of North Texas (4-11) 70-59 in the NCAA in Thursday night's game. He scored 6 points in 22 minutes. The Western Kentucky University has 7-7 conference record this season. This year Kaspar's total stats are: 1.5ppg and 1.2rpg in the 13 games he played so far.

Demir Insaat Buyukcekmece Basket (BSL) signed 30-year old FYR Macedonian international guard Vojdan Stojanovski (194-88kg-87, agency: BeoBasket). He played last season at Betis Energia Plus Sevilla in Spanish Liga Endesa. In 32 games he had 10.9ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.3apg. The previous (15-16) season Stojanovski played at MoraBanc Andorra (also in Liga Endesa) where in 34 games he recorded 11.9ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.2apg. The successful team of Turkish Airlines Euroleague Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul decided not to use the contract extension option of Adrien Moerman (202-PF-88) for the upcoming season. The 28 year old Power Forward played with 8.69 ppg , 5.3 rpg during the regular season of 8 Turkish Airlines Euroleague and with 8.1 ppg,5.1 rpg during the TOP 8 of Turkish Airlines Euroleague. Pinar Karsiyaka SK Izmir (BSL) agreed terms with 22-year old center Emircan Kosut (216-95) from Yesilgiresun. In 30 BSL games he had 5.8ppg and 3.6rpg last season. The previous (15-16) season Kosut played at Anadolu Efes. But in 6 BSL games he recorded just 1.3ppg and 1.0rpg. He helped them to win the cup and make to league final.
