Cansu Meryem Altay (95) put on an amazing game in the last round for Burhaniye Bld, receiving a Eurobasket.com TKB2L Player of the Week award for round 17. The 17-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds, while her team beat 55 Genclik (#6, 8-9) 80-75. Burhaniye Bld is placed at 5th position in Turkish TKB2L. Burhaniye Bld is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 9-8 record. In the team's last game Altay had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. It's her second year at Burhaniye Bld and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Cansu Meryem Altay averages this season 9.4ppg and 6.2rpg.
The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old American Nola Taylor (188-F-87) of 55 Genclik. Taylor had a very good evening with a double-double of 20 points and 22 rebounds. Bad luck as 55 Genclik lost that game 75-80 to slightly higher-ranked Burhaniye Bld (#5, 9-8). This loss caused 55 Genclik to drop to 6th position in group A. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 8-9 record. Taylor is a newcomer at 55 Genclik, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.9ppg (#8). She also registered 14.9 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was Gokce Cetin of Dizdar (#4). Cetin scored 23 points and grabbed ten rebounds. She was a key player of Dizdar, leading her team to a 136-19 easy win against the lower-ranked Celtispor (#9, 1-16). Dizdar needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in group A. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 6 lost games. Cetin has a very solid season. In 11 games in Turkey she scored 8.3ppg.

Carolyn Swords signed a deal with Ceyhan Belediyesi last year. She currently plays in the WNBA with the Chicago Sky. Swords split 2011 season between Spain and Turkey. She started it with Soller Joventud Mariana averaging 13.5 points and 8.4 rebounds for 11 games in LFB. In January, the player moved to Istanbul Universitesi SK. With them she had 11.9 ppg, 10.8 rpg and 1 bpg for 12 games. It was the first season in Europe for Carolyn Swords, who graduated at the Boston College something more than a year ago. She had 17.5 ppg, 9.5 rpg and 1.5 rpg for her school in 2010/11. After that, Swords got a deal with Chicago Sky averaging 2.5 points and 1.8 rebounds for 28 WNBA games. Istanbul Universitesi SK added 26-year old Romanian Gabriela Marginean (182-F-87, college: Drexel) for the next season.
The season 2012 she started at CSM Targoviste in Romanian Liga Nationala. In 36 games she recorded 14.1ppg, 3.2rpg, 1.8apg and 1.1spg this season. Marginean also played 10 games in Eurocup where she averaged remarkable 16.9ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.0spg. The previous (10-11) season she played at Panathinaikos (A1) in Greek league. In 26 games she was second best scorer with great 17.0ppg and had 7.3rpg, 1.5apg and 2.2spg that season. She contributed to her team making it to the semifinals. Great season indeed as she was selected Eurobasket.com All-Greek League Bosman Player of the Year and voted to 1st Team and voted to All-Bosmans Team. Marginean attended Drexel University until 2010 and it will be her third season in pro basketball. She was voted CAA Player of the Year back in 2009 at her college time.
