Bojan
Bogdanovic
In a true clash of rivals Fenerbahce Ulker beat fellow townsmen Besiktas with 78-72 in Group F of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. Fener was trailing by 10 points at halftime, but scored an impressive 30 points in the final period to emerge victorious at the final buzzer. Bojan Bogdanovic (203-SG-89) scored 25 points, David Andersen (212-C-80) added 13, Oguz Savas (212-C-87) 12 and Bo McCalebb (178-PG-85, college: New Orleans) 10. With the win, Fenerbahce improved to 2-5 in Group F, while Besiktas remains winless.

Besiktas opened the score in the first period. Bogdanovic answered quickly with two baskets and a triple. Oguz Savas added a basket to give Fener a 9-5 lead after 4 minutes. After 6 minutes, Ulker was still in charge (13-8), but the Besiktas defence close ranks and the guests tied at 15-15 with little over a minute left. Free throws by McCalebb and a lay up by Bogdanovic gave Fenerbahce the advantage again: 19-15.

In the second quarter Besiktas scored a 0-9 run, taking the score to 19-24. Mike Batiste ended a five-minute scoring silence for Fener, but Markota answered with a triple to make it 21-27. Fenerbahce closed the gap to 28-33 after 16 minutes, but another run by Besiktas gave the guests a double digit advantage in the 19th minute: 28-41. Peker and Bogdanovic brought Ulker back to 32-42 at teatime.

McCalebb opened the third quarter with a steal and layup. After a series of mutual baskets lay ups by Andersen and McCalebb closed the gap to 4 points: 42-46 after 26 minutes. Daniel Ewing countered with two triples for Besiktas to increase the lead to 10 points again. Fenerbahce refused to resign though, and Andersen made it 48-55 through three quarters.

In the fourth period Fener's offence heated up, closing the gap to 2 points after 33 minutes: 58-60. Besiktas increased the gap to 6 points again, 60-66 after 34 minutes, but Savas and Ermis stepped up for Fenerbahce and put their team in the lead for the first time in 25 minutes: 67-66 after 37 minutes. Savas increased the lead to 3 points afer 39 minutes: 73-70. After a steal by Bogdanovic Savas added a jumper with 31 seconds left for a 75-70 lead. With free throws by Jerrels Besiktas closed in to 75-72, but Boganovic scored a pair of his own and added another free throw in the final seconds to complete Fener's comeback and securing a hard fought 78-72 victory.

Tony Crocker
Crocker number one in Turkey for round 27 - 2 days ago
American Forward Tony Crocker (200-F-87) put on an amazing game in the last round for TOFAS, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 27. The 29-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, four rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Usak (#14, 8-19) 82-69. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Tofas maintains the 9th position in Turkish BSL. Tofas is a typical sol...   [read more]

BSL Round 27 of Regular Season - 3 days ago
The teams have now bigger motivation at this stage of Regular Season. Every game can be crucial and decide about teams' position at the end of Regular Season. The game in Gaziantep was quite interesting. Third ranked Besiktas (22-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Gaziantep (13-14). Besiktas managed to secure a 8-point victory 67-59 on Sunday. Besiktas outrebounded Gaziantep 51-33 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American-Tunisian Michael Ro...   [read more]
