Top ranked Fenerbahce (17-2) recorded its second loss in Mersin on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by fifth ranked Tarsus Bld (13-6) 87-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Fenerbahce. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But Fenerbahce won second period 26-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tarsus Bld made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Danielle Marie Robinson (178-89, college: Oklahoma) fired 18 points and 9 assists for the winners. American Delisha Milton-Jones (186-74, college: Florida, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Polish swingman Agnieszka Bibrzycka (184-82, college: Abil.Christian, agency: Data Plus Group) produced 18 points and 4 assists for lost side. Tarsus Bld maintains fifth place with 13-6 record. Defending champion Fenerbahce still keeps top position with two games lost. Tarsus Bld are looking forward to face TED Ankara (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fenerbahce will play against Ceyhan Bld (#8) in Adana and is hoping to win this game.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Hatay, where 6th ranked Ceyhan Bld (9-10) lost to ninth ranked Antakya (8-11) in a road game 64-78. Worth to mention a great performance of Czech Jana Vesela (194-83) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. Jolene Anderson contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Antakya's coach Hakan Acer allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Carolyn Swords (198-89, college: Boston Coll., agency: LBM Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds for Ceyhan Bld. Antakya maintains ninth place with 8-11 record. Ceyhan Bld at the other side dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Istanbul Univ.. Antakya will play against Samsun (#13) on the road in the next round. Ceyhan Bld will play against the league's leader Fenerbahce (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.

Mersin will meet at home higher ranked Kayseri (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Samsun will play against Antakya (#9) in Hatay and hope to secure a win.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#2) and Besiktas (#12). Besiktas was defeated at home 59-73. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Besiktas. It was an exceptional evening for Isil Alben who led the winners and scored 22 points and 4 steals. The victory was the third consecutive win for Galatasaray. They maintain second place with 16-3 record behind leader Fenerbahce. Besiktas at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Galatasaray's next round opponent will be Botas (#6) in Adana. Besiktas will play at home against Istanbul Universitesi (#7) in Istanbul.

Other games of round 19 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Kayseri defeated Canik Bld in a road game 76-63. Istanbul Univ. beat TED Ankara at home 71-66. Bottom-ranked Edremit lost to Botas on the opponent's court 63-73.
The best stats of 19th round was 22 points and 10 rebounds by Oksana Zakalyuzhnaya of Mersin.



Canik Bld - Kayseri 63-76

There was no surprise in Samsun where 11th ranked Canik Bld (7-12) was defeated by third ranked Kayseri (14-4) 76-63. The game was mostly controlled by Kayseri. Canik Bld was better in third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Canik Bld 40-26 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kayseri players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Tugba Tasci (178-84, agency: 1x1 Sports) who led the winners and scored 8 points and 9 assists. Greek forward Zoi Dimitrakou (188-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 13 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Kayseri's coach Ayhan Avci used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bulgarian-American point guard Doneeka Hodges-Lewis (175-82, college: LSU, agency: LBM Management) came up with 20 points and the former international forward Didem Suer (188-77) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Canik Bld in the defeat. Kayseri maintains third place with 14-4 record having four points less than leader Fenerbahce. Newly promoted Canik Bld dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. Kayseri's next round opponent will be Botas (#6) in Adana. Canik Bld will play on the road against Edremit (#14) in Balikesir.

Mersin led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Mersin outrebounded Samsun 58-36 including a 23-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Samsun's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Erlana Larkins (185-86, college: N.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists. Russian center Oksana Zakalyuzhnaya (198-77) helped adding 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). But then Botas had a 20-14 second period charge getting the lead and Edremit was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-73. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Christi Thomas (191-82, college: Georgia) who led the winners and scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Her fellow American import center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Five Botas players scored in double figures. American point guard Constance Jinks (170-81, college: UNLV, agency: Merit Sports) came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Sanem Gamze Zeren (178-89) added 17 points respectively for Edremit in the defeat. Natalie Hurst(164-PG-83) has agreed on terms of contract extension with Hatay. The Australian point guard will spend the next season in Turkey. Natalie Hurst joined Hatay at the start of the previous season. She averaged impressive 16.4 points, 4.2 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game in KBSL.
