Besiktas was defeated at home 70-78 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Besiktas was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Fenerbahce Ulker made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Bosnian-Croatian Bojan Bogdanovic (203-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points. The former international guard Baris Ermis (194-85) helped adding 10 points. At the losing side Bosnian-Croatian forward Damir Markota (209-85) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fenerbahce Ulker (17-2) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Banvit BK. Defending champion Besiktas keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Fenerbahce Ulker is looking forward to face Karsiyaka (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Besiktas will play against Gaziantep and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Bottom-ranked Hacettepe managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of two consecutive loses. This time they edged eighth-ranked Erdemir 71-69. Olin Edirne - Galatasaray 59-69

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Galatasaray (16-3) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Olin Edirne (4-15) 69-59 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 36-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for Puerto Rican point guard Carlos Arroyo (188-79, college: FIU, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 7 assists. Georgian Manuchar Markoishvili (196-86) helped adding 21 points. At the losing side Belarusian center Artsiom Parakhouski (210-87, college: Radford) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Mehmet Yagmur (188-87) scored 15 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Galatasaray. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Karsiyaka. Loser Olin Edirne dropped to the bottom position with 15 games lost. Galatasaray will face Erdemir (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Olin Edirne will play against Antalya (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Mersin - Gaziantep 86-98

Everything could happen in Akdeniz at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Gaziantep and 12th ranked Mersin had identical 5-13 record. But Mersin was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Gaziantep 98-86 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Gaziantep. Mersin was better in second period 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gaziantep shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. It was a great evening for American power forward Joey Dorsey (206-83, college: Memphis, agency: FCM) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international power forward Mutlu Akpinar (203-83) helped adding 24 points and 4 assists. At the losing side naturalized American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and American guard Willie Solomon (187-78, college: Clemson) scored 19 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Gaziantep maintains eleventh place with 6-13 record. Mersin lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Gaziantep will face higher ranked Besiktas (#6) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mersin will play at home against the league's second-placed Banvit BK (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
