The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games.

TBL round 21 caused change at the leadership position. Third defeat of league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker (18-3) against eleventh ranked Tofas (8-13) 81-73 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Fenerbahce Ulker. Fenerbahce Ulker trailed by 23 points after 3 quarters before a 31-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-81 at the end of the game. Tofas dominated on the defensive end, holding Fenerbahce Ulker to just 7 points in third quarter. 28 personal fouls committed by Fenerbahce Ulker helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Croatian power forward Tomislav Ruzic (207-79) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. The former international guard Can Altintig (195-87) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American-FYR Macedonian point guard Bo McCalebb (178-85, college: New Orleans) answered with 21 points for Fenerbahce Ulker. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tofas moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Fenerbahce Ulker at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Galatasaray. They were replaced at the leadership position by Banvit BK. Fenerbahce Ulker will play next round against Turk Telekom trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Tofas will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Gaziantep on the road.
TBL top team - Banvit BK (19-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Besiktas (12-9) in Istanbul 67-56. Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) stepped up and scored 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Charles Davis chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was Bosnian-Croatian forward Damir Markota (209-85) with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Banvit BK have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place with 19-2 record. Besiktas lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Banvit BK will play against Karsiyaka (#5) at home in the next round. Besiktas will play against Hacettepe in Ankara and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Ankara was also quite interesting. Third ranked Galatasaray (18-3) played at the court of 7th ranked TED Kolejliler (11-10). Galatasaray managed to secure a 8-point victory 94-86 on Saturday. Ender Arslan nailed 25 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Vanja Plisnic came up with 25 points and 7 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for TED Kolejliler in the defeat. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Galatasaray. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Fener.Ulker. Newly promoted TED Kolejliler keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Galatasaray will meet Mersin (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TED Kolejliler will play against Antalya (#15) and hope to secure a win.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Karsiyaka (16-5) and Gaziantep (8-13), which took place in Karsiyaka. Higher ranked Karsiyaka lost at home to eleventh ranked Gaziantep 57-66. The best player for the winners was Dylan Page who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Karsiyaka's coach Ufuk Sarica rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gaziantep. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Karsiyaka at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Gaziantep's next round opponent will be Tofas (#10) in Bursa. Karsiyaka will play on the road against the league's leader Banvit BK (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
The game between ninth ranked Erdemir (8-13) and 15th ranked Antalya (4-17) in Erdemir on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Erdemir outscored guests from Antalya 77-50. It was a good game for Jure Balazic who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Erdemir moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Antalya lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. Erdemir will face Aliaga (#8) on the road in the next round. Antalya will play against TED Kolejliler (#7) in Ankara.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 21: Turk Telekom was beaten by Anadolu Efes on the road 74-69. Mersin destroyed Hacettepe on its own court 89-69. Aliaga managed to outperform Olin Edirne in a road game 72-67.


Besiktas - Banvit BK 56-67

TBL top team - Banvit BK (19-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Besiktas (12-9) in Istanbul 67-56. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) stepped up and scored 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American-Azerbaijani center Charles Davis (205-84, college: Alabama) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Anadolu Efes - Turk Telekom 74-69

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Anadolu Efes (17-4) beat 12th ranked Turk Telekom (6-15) in Istanbul 74-69 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-17. But Turk Telekom won second period 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Anadolu Efes won last quarter 22-18. It was a good game for American Jamon Lukas Gordon (191-84, college: Virginia Tech) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Jordan Farmar (188-86, college: UCLA) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Anadolu Efes' coach Oktay Mahmudi used entire bench in such tough game. Croatian power forward Drago Pasalic (208-84) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois, agency: Priority Sports) added 15 points and 4 assists in the effort for Turk Telekom. The victory was the third consecutive win for Anadolu Efes. They maintain fourth place with 17-4 record. Loser Turk Telekom keeps the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Anadolu Efes will face Olin Edirne (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Turk Telekom will play against the league's second-placed Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul.

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Karsiyaka (16-5) and Gaziantep (8-13), which took place in Karsiyaka. Higher ranked Karsiyaka lost at home to eleventh ranked Gaziantep 57-66. Rather expected game when 16th ranked Hacettepe (4-17) was smashed by thirteenth ranked Mersin (6-15) in Akdeniz 89-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mersin. Hacettepe was better in fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American guard J.P. Prince (201-87, college: Tennessee) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Alex Scales (192-78, college: Oregon) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Mersin players scored in double figures. American forward Ricardo Marsh (207-81, college: ODU) answered with 15 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Ali Isik (206-90) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Hacettepe. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mersin moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Turk Telekom. Loser Hacettepe stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Mersin will face higher ranked Galatasaray (#3) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hacettepe will play at home against Besiktas (#6) in Istanbul.

Four Olin Edirne players scored in double figures. Aliaga maintains eighth place with 8-13 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Olin Edirne keeps the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Aliaga will face Erdemir (#9) at home in the next round. Olin Edirne will play against Anadolu Efes (#4) in Istanbul.
