Mondeville advanced to EuroCup Quarterfinals with 153-146 in two games against Botas. In the second, the hosts were able to erase the deficit and turn the game to their favor after dominating most of the contest. After a close opening, the game was tied at 12 with 4 minutes left in the first period. Then Mondeville went on the 9-2 run to close the first half gaining 21-14 lead. More of the same continued in the second quarter, when hosts were able to further extend their lead. After another 10- 4 run they already had more comfortable lead which at the halftime was 47-26. Than after the halftime break, visiting team started playing little better. Thanks to tightening of their defense they were able to create transition opportunities. They won the third period by 18-24 but they were still trailing 65-50. In the final period Mondeville took the game over again and was able to routinely keep their aggregate advantage. They won the final period by 1 point which was enough for overall win of 86-70 and passage into the next round. Temeka Johnson (160-G-82, agency: Ronsport, college: LSU) was a key player for the French squad tonight collecting 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Lenae Williams (186-F-79, college: De Paul) secured a great help adding 17 points. Courtney Paris (193-C-87, college: Oklahoma) had 18 points and 12 rebounds for Botas. She was closely followed by Sharnee Zoll (170-G-86, college: Virginia) who added 17 points. In the QFinals, Mondeville will visit Saarlouis on February 18th for Game 1. 2nd Leg of the mathcup is scheduled for February 25th.

The Russian Powerhouse UMMC Ekaterinburg completed a 2-0 EuroLeague 1/8 Final series victory over Galatasaray. The Turkish side tried hard at home however could not upset the favorites. UMMC Ekaterinburg were made to work hard for their win on Friday night. Galatasaray started more confident and took 12:10 lead after 10 minutes when Tamika Catchings (186-F-79, college: Tennessee) made a jump shot. A 17-9 second period lead was relinquished to allow the guests to move in front 27:21 at the halftime. After the interval Galatasaray reduced the gap thanks to 19-17 in the frame. Caglar was the last to score in the their quarter for 40:44. With 4-0 UMMC stretched out their advantage to 8 points. The intrigue however was way far from the end. Yigit cut it to 47:48 with 5 minutes to go. Sophia Young (186-F-83, college: Baylor) later scored for 49:50, but Candace Parker (193-F/C-86, college: Tennessee) delivered two for 56:49. Dumerc and Cappie Pondexter (175-G-83, college: Rutgers) nailed the last five points of the winners to advance to EuroLeague Quartrfinal series. Candace Parker led the way with 17 points being 8/9 from the field goal. Cappie Pondexter notched 12 and Agnieszka Bibrzycka (184-F/G-82, agency: Data Plus Group, college: Abil.Christian) added 8. Tamika Catchings and Sophia Young ended up with 15 points apiece for the home side.

Nicole Powell sent two squads to the lockers for 35:19 advantage. In the second half Cras Basket Taranto had nothing to lose but to try more offensive game. They reduced to three more points at the end of the third period when Godin scored for the hosts in the end of the frame. Penelope Taylor (185-F-81) increased the led at 50:35 entering the last stanza and Esmeral Tuncluer (175-G-80, agency: Ates Ceren)'s three showed 55:43 on the board. Montagnino and Brunson brought the hosts to 52:57 and Greco scored form the perimeter for 55:59. Esmeral Tuncluer however was fouled and brought the last points for the winners. Penelope Taylor paced all the winner with 17 points. Nicole Powell netted 15, while Nevriye Yilmaz (195-C-80, agency: Ates Ceren) and Esmeral Tuncluer posted 10 each. Elodie Godin (190-C-85) ended up with 12 points in the home side and Megan Mahoney (183-F-83, agency: LBM Management, college: Kansas St.) notched 11.
