We bring you last week's top performances from Turks who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international center Enes Kanter (211-92, college: Kentucky, currently plays in NBA). He was the major contributor in an Oklahoma City Thunder's victory against the New Orleans Pelicans (24-38) 118-110 in the NBA in Sunday night's game. Kanter scored 20 points, had 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 24 minutes on the court. The Oklahoma City Thunder has 35-27 record this season. Kanter has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 14.3ppg, 6.8rpg, 2FGP: 57.8%(285-493), 3FGP: 15.2% and FT: 79.6% in 52 games he played so far. Kanter played for the Turkish senior national team three years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international forward Ersan Ilyasova (208-87, currently plays in NBA). He led Atlanta Hawks to a victory against the Dallas Mavericks (25-36) 100-95 in the NBA last Wednesday. Ilyasova scored 18 points and had 3 steals. The Atlanta Hawks have 34-27 record this season. Ilyasova has relatively good stats this year: 9.8ppg, 5.0rpg, 2FGP: 52.2%, 3FGP: 41.7% and FT: 90.9%. Former Yesilyurt Istanbul starter played for the Turkish national team in 2015.

   #3. The Turkish player who performed third best last week abroad was former international power forward Izzet Turkyilmaz (212-90, currently plays in Croatia). He contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked Gorica (3-14) crushing them 100-75 in the Croatian A1 on Saturday night. Turkyilmaz recorded 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks in 20 minutes. GKK Sibenik (15-4) is placed third in the A1. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Turkyilmaz's overall stats are: 6.6ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.5apg, 1.3bpg, 2FGP: 66.7%(32-48), 3FGP: 45.5%(10-22) and FT: 66.7% in 16 games. He played for the Turkish national team four years ago.

   #4. Guard Burak Eslik (193, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Eastern Illinois University (5-11) 78-59 in the NCAA last Saturday. He scored 22 points and had 4 steals in 38 minutes. The S.Illinois University - Edwardsville has not so impressive 1-15 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. This year Eslik has relatively solid stats: 13.4ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.7apg in 30 games. He used to play for the Turkish U16 national team back in 2010.

Former U20 international forward Kerem Kanter (206-95, currently studies in the States) contributed to an Green Bay's victory against the University of Detroit Mercy (11-3) 89-81 in the NCAA on Sunday night. Kanter recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting the same number of rebounds. The University of Wisconsin - Green Bay has a solid 9-5 conference record this season. His team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Kanter has reliable stats this season: 10.8ppg and 5.8rpg. He used to play for the Turkish U20 national team three years ago.

   #6. Forward Yalim Olcay (203, is currently at the American university) contributed to W.Carolina's victory against the Virginia Military Institute (3-11) 81-68 in the NCAA in Monday night's game. Olcay scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 21 minutes. The Western Carolina University has not so impressive 2-12 conference record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. This year Olcay's total stats are: 2.6ppg and 2.3rpg in 28 games. He is a former U16 international player as he played for the Turkish team two years ago.

Former U18 international guard Cavit Ege Havsa (191-97, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the Fordham (4-8) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Havsa's good performance the Fordham was edged 67-66 on the road by the The George Washington University. He recorded 12 points. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. This season Havsa averages only 2.5ppg. He used to play for the Turkish U18 national team two years ago.

Omer Yurtseven

   #8. Center Omer Yurtseven (213-98, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the N.Carolina St. in their game against the Clemson University (4-10) in the NCAA. Yurtseven recorded only 4 points in 19 minutes. The N.Carolina St. lost 74-78 at home to the University. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA. Yurtseven has averaged so far 6.1ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.2apg in 21 games. He plays currently for the Turkish U20 national team.


The list of other players, who all have Turkish passport but never been selected to any of Turkish national teams:

   #1. Samir Zekiqi (202-F-95, currently plays in Kosovo) was the major contributor in Trepca's victory against the league leader Sigal Prishtina (15-3) 84-83 in the Kosovan SuperLeague in Saturday night's game. Zekiqi scored 24 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. KB Trepca Mitrovice (2-0) is placed second in the SuperLeague. It's Zekiqi's first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 14.4ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.8apg. Zekiqi has a dual citizenship: Turkish and Kosovan.

   #2. Kaan Korkmaz (185-PG, currently plays in NCAA2) led Colorado School of Mines to an easy victory against the Metropolitan State College of Denver crushing them 89-57 in the NCAA2 on Saturday night. Korkmaz scored 11 points and added 3 passes in a mere 17 minutes. The Colorado School of Mines have a very good 17-3 record this season. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA2. It's Korkmaz's fifth year with the team. He has averaged so far 5.0ppg, 1.9rpg and 2.3apg in 23 games he played so far.

   #3. Baris Aktas (192-SF-91, agency: 011 Sports, currently plays in Romania). Aktas could not help Craiova (4-15) to beat Targu Mures (9-10). He recorded 5 points. The fourth-placed Craiova (4-15) was defeated 85-77 on the road by the leading Targu Mures in the Places 7-10 group. Aktas has averaged so far 1.9ppg, 1.1rpg and 1.5apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Turkish and Romanian.

Israel - Turkey 83:84 Turkey narrowly defeated Israel in the friendly game. Furkan Korkmaz (198-G-97) scored 19 points to lead the winners. Turkey jumped to a 25:24 lead after ten minutes.
