The 29-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, four rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Usak (#14, 8-19) 82-69. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Tofas maintains the 9th position in Turkish BSL. Tofas is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 12-15 record. In the team's last game Crocker had a remarkable three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Tofas' top player in his first season with the team. Tony Crocker averages this season 14.5ppg.
The second best player in last round's games was 32-year old American Ike Ofoegbu (205-PF-84) of Best Balikesir. Ofoegbu had a very good evening with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Best Balikesir lost that game 77-84 to the higher-ranked Istanbul BBSK (#10, 11-16). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Best Balikesir keeps 15th position. 21 lost games are too many comparing to just six victories Best Balikesir managed to get this year. Ofoegbu is a newcomer at Best Balikesir, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was Dominican Rep. swingman Sammy Mejia (198-F/G-83) of Tofas (#9). Mejia showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, five rebounds and eight assists in the last round. He was a key player of Tofas, leading his team to a 82-69 easy win against the lower-ranked Usak (#14, 8-19). The chances of Tofas ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 15 games, recording just twelve victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Mejia could help Tofas to bring them higher in the standings. Mejia has a very solid season. In 27 games in Turkey he scored 14.9ppg. He also has 5.1rpg, 3.9apg, FGP: 62.3% and 3PT: 41.6%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Delroy James (203-F-87) of Best Balikesir - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Ian Hummer (201-F-90) of TED Kolejliler - 18 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Angelo Caloiaro (205-F-89) of Demir IBB - 20 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Emir Gokalp (185-PG-95) of Banvit BK - 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists 8. Austin Daye (211-F-88) of Galatasaray - 14 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Andrija Stipanovic (209-C-86) of Demir IBB - 16 points and 7 rebounds 10. Kaya Peker (207-C/F-80) of Tofas - 18 points and 3 rebounds
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
