We bring you last week's top performances from Turks who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international forward Ersan Ilyasova (208-87, currently plays in NBA). He could not help the Atlanta Hawks (37-32) in their last game. Despite Ilyasova's very good performance the Atlanta Hawks (37-32) were badly defeated 113-97 on the road by the Portland Trail Blazers. He was the top scorer with 23 points. Ilyasova also added 4 rebounds in 27 minutes on the court. It was Hawks' third consecutive loss in a row. Ilyasova has relatively good stats this year: 10.3ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.2apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 47.2%, 3FGP: 52.9%(18-34) and FT: 81.1% in 13 games he played so far. Former Yesilyurt Istanbul starter played for the Turkish senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international center Enes Kanter (211-92, college: Kentucky, currently plays in NBA). He led Oklahoma City Thunder to an easy victory against the Brooklyn Nets (13-55) 122-104 in the NBA last Tuesday. Kanter recorded 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The Oklahoma City Thunder has 40-29 record this season. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Kanter has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 14.4ppg, 6.9rpg, 2FGP: 58.2%(327-562), 3FGP: 14.3% and FT: 78.8%. Kanter played for the Turkish national team in 2014.

   #3. The Turkish player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former international guard Engin Atsur (190-84, agency: BeoBasket, college: N.Carolina St., currently plays in Germany). He led ALBA Berlin to an easy victory against the closely-ranked s Oliver Baskets (13-7) crushing them 99-75 in the German BBL on Saturday night. Atsur recorded 12 points and added 3 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) in 21 minutes. ALBA Berlin (16-10) is placed fifth in the BBL. This year Atsur's overall stats are: 8.5ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.6apg, 2FGP: 41.1%, 3FGP: 38.7% and FT: 86.8% in 26 games. He has a dual citizenship: Turkish and German. Atsur played for the Turkish national team eight years ago.

   #4. Power forward Izzet Turkyilmaz (212-90, currently plays in Croatia) managed to help GKK Sibenik to win against the tenth-ranked KK Skrljevo (6-15) 74-60 in the Croatian A1 in Tuesday night's game. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. GKK Sibenik (17-4) is placed second in the A1. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. It's Turkyilmaz's first season with the team. Turkyilmaz's total stats this year are: 6.1ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.5apg and 1.4bpg. He used to play for the Turkish national team back in 2013.

   #5. Former U20 international forward Kerem Kanter (206-95, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Green Bay (12-6) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Kanter's very good performance the Green Bay was defeated 92-82 at home by the Univ.of Missouri - Kansas City. He recorded 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Kanter's team will play only one more game in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1. And that game will be critical. This season Kanter has relatively solid stats: 11.3ppg and 6.1rpg. He used to play for the Turkish U20 national team three years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Turkish passport but never been selected to any of Turkish national teams:

   #1. Samir Zekiqi (202-F-95, currently plays in Kosovo) led Trepca to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Vellaznimi (2-20) crushing them 98-74 in the Kosovan SuperLeague last Saturday. Zekiqi recorded 19 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and made 2 blocks in 31 minutes. KB Trepca Mitrovice (3-1) is placed third in the SuperLeague. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Zekiqi has relatively solid stats: 14.9ppg, 3.6rpg and 2.2apg in 17 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Turkish and Kosovan.

   #2. Kaan Korkmaz (185-PG, currently plays in NCAA2) led Colorado School of Mines to a victory against the Arkansas-Fort Smith (13-5) 90-79 in the NCAA2 in Saturday night's game. Korkmaz recorded 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 26 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. The Colorado School of Mines have a very solid 20-3 record this season. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the NCAA2 National Tournament Round 1. And that game will be critical. Korkmaz has been at the team for five years. This season his total stats are: 5.6ppg, 1.9rpg and 2.2apg in 27 games.

   #3. Baris Aktas (192-SF-91, agency: 011 Sports, currently plays in Romania) managed to help SCM CSU Craiova to win against the fourth-ranked CS Dinamo Bucuresti (5-15) crushing them 84-64 in the Romanian Liga Nationala last Saturday. Aktas scored only 3 points. SCM CSU Craiova (5-15) is placed third in Places 7-10 group. There are only four games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. Aktas' total stats this season are: 2.0ppg, 1.1rpg and 1.5apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Turkish and Romanian.

   #4. Abdurrahman Circiroglu (193-PF-97, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Ansbach (9-14) crushing them 94-62 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) on Saturday night. Circiroglu recorded only 2 points in 9 minutes on the court. Baskets Vilsbiburg (16-7) is placed second in South-East group. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Circiroglu has been at the team for four years. This season he averages just 1.9ppg in 16 games.

Bakirkoy Basket (TBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 25-year old Canadian guard Marek Klassen (185-82kg-92, college: Point Loma). He played last season at Worcester Wolves in British BBL league. In 37 games he recorded 12.3ppg, 4.1rpg, 6.2apg (top 3) and 1.2spg. Klassen helped them to make it to the semifinals. Israel - Turkey 83:84 Turkey narrowly defeated Israel in the friendly game. Furkan Korkmaz (198-G-97) scored 19 points to lead the winners. Turkey jumped to a 25:24 lead after ten minutes.
