Andrew James Ogilvy (211-C-88) had an
amazing evening in the last round for Besiktas
ColaTurka Istanbul and that's him to receive a
Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for
round 21.
The 22-year old center had the game-high 22
points adding nine rebounds for Besiktas in his
team's victory, helping them to beat Fener.Ulker
(#1, 18-3) 92-84. Besiktas maintains the 5th
position in Turkish TBL. They would have been
even better if they hadn't lost a few games
earlier this season. Besiktas will need more
victories to improve their 14-7 record. Ogilvy
turned to be Besiktas' top player in his first
season with the team. Andrew James Ogilvy
averages this season 12.9ppg and 6.6rpg.
The second most remarkable performance in last
round's games was 25-year old American guard
Keith Simmons (196-G-85, agency:
Interperformances) of Banvit Basketbol
Kulubu. Simmons impressed basketball fans with
23 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as
Banvit lost that game 76-84 to the lower-ranked
Karsiyaka (#6, 14-7). Banvit managed to keep the
same 3rd spot in the standings. His team's 16-5
record is not bad at all. Simmons is well-known
by Banvit fans and he already established his
position as one of team's most reliable players.
The third best performed player last round was
American
Ali Karadeniz (203-F-80) of Trabzonspor
Basketbol (#11). Karadeniz scored 28 points and
grabbed seven rebounds. Despite Karadeniz's
great performance Trabzonspor lost 77-89 to the
higher-ranked Efes Pilsen (#4, 15-6). But his
team cannot count on just a single shooter as he
also needs help of the other teammates. The
chances of Trabzonspor not to end season at such
low position in the league, however are less
than slim as they have already lost 13 games,
recording just eight victories. With bigger
assistance of his teammates, Karadeniz could try
to bring Trabzonspor's a little bit higher in
the standings. Karadeniz has individually a
great season in Turkey. After 20 games, he made
it on the list of the league's leaders in points
with 22.3ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with
8.0rpg (9th best).
Other top performing players last week:
4.
Vincent Grier (195-G/F-83) of Mersin - 23
points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
5.
Mire Chatman (187-G-78) of Besiktas - 16
points, 4 rebounds and 10 assists
6.
KZell Wesson (201-F/C-77) of Turk Telekom -
14 points and 14 rebounds
7.
Marvis Thornton (194-G-77) of Efes Pilsen -
11 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists
8.
Gerrod Henderson (192-G-78) of Antalya - 21
points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
9.
Charles Davis (202-F-84) of Banvit - 17
points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists
10.
Kimani Ffriend (211-C-77) of Bornova - 14
points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on

result, importance of the game, if played
