Spanish Final in Uleb Cup, 18.30, Turin - Apr 13, 2008

DKV Joventut won over Galatasaray Cafe Crown 90:83 in the first semifinal in Turin. Spanish team took the lead from the early beginning and enjoyed 27:17 in the opening quarter. In the third quarter Galatasaray cut the deficit to 52:50, but DKV Joventut increased to 74:62.
They kept the advantage in the next three quarters and truthfully advanced to the Final. Rudy Fernandez (197-G-85) paced all the winners with 27 points. Jan Jagla netted 13, while Demond Mallet (186-G-78, agency: Higher Vision Sports, college: Mc Neese St.) posted 11.Robert Hite (188-G-84, college: Miami, FL) had a good game for the Turkish side nailing 26 points. Galatasaray has the chance to return to the ULEB Cup next season if it wins the third place game also today.
Akasvayu Girona became the second Finalist of ULEB Cup final. Spanish team advanced to the title game by upsetting Dynamo Moscow 81:78. Akasvayu easily started the game and increased the lead from time to time. Akasvayu Girona produced 17:3 in the third quarter to take 64:45 advantage. Dynamo however came back to the game and reduced to 74:73. Arriel McDonald (191-G-72, college: Minnesota) scored four free throws in the end to hold off a wild Dynamo rally. Radenovic top-scored for the winners with 20 points. Arriel McDonald scored 18, while Marc Gasol chipped in 16. Henry Domercant (192-G-80, college: E.Illinois) nailed 20 points for the Russian team.
Tonight is the Final between two Spanish teams. ULEB Cup winner will automatically make it to the 2008-09 Euroleague.

The semi-finalist of the french championship, Adecco ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne add the american forward, Eric Campbell (199-F-76, agency: SportsTalent, college: Spring Hill) to his roster. He'll meet again Vincent Collet, who coached him 2 years ago in Le Mans. This year, he played in Israel, at Hapoel Holon, where he won the championship versus Maccabi Tel Aviv. He posted 11,5pts and grabbed 8rbs in Israeli Premier League.   [read more]

Turk Telekom continues with signings after the end of the season. This time the team signed point guard Baris Ermis (194-G-85) on a two-year deal. Ermis came from Pinar Karsiyaka where he averaged 8.7 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 3.3 apg for 31 games in Turkish TBL. He was a member of Turk Telekom on season 06/07 when he was loaned from Efes Pilsen. He didn't have a lot of chance to play at that time in Turk Telekom as he averaged only 2.   [read more]

Ben Dewar (196-G-81, college: L.Superior) put signature on one year deal with ASVEL Basket. After hiring of new head coach Vincent Collet, Devar is the second signing of ASVEL for the next season. Dewar arrived to ASVEL from another Pro A team, Entente Orleans 45, where he spent last 3 years. Previous season Ben Dewar had 30 appearances for Orleans averaging 12.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 1.5 spg.
