DKV Joventut lifts the Trophy!
dd Spanish DKV Joventut
became the champion of ULEB Cup. The winner of the tournament overcame
another Spanish representative Akasvayu Girona 79:54.
Demond Mallet (186-G-78, agency:

Neese St.) led the winners with 26 points.
Rudy Fernandez (197-G-85) nailed 13 points, while
Jerome Moiso (208-C/F-78, college:
UCLA)
had 10.
Ivan Radenovic (208-F-84, college:
Arizona) top-scored with 26 points in defeat. DKV Joventut will be
another Spanish team that will participate in Euroleague next season.
Akasvayu has locked a spot in the 2008-09 ULEB Cup by finishing second.
DKV Joventut did not start the game the way they finished and trailed
2:7 in the opening tip. Radenovic kept pacing Akasvayu making Joventut
call timeout at 2:10. It helped the team to recover as they produced
10:2 for 14:12. Erik Daniels however nailed a triple to give Akasvayu a
21:16 after the first period. Petar Popovic brought his team up to 26:23
in the beginning of the second quarter. Joventut led 34:27 when the
teams left the court for the break.
The third quarter became decisive in the game as DKV Joventut showed
their own game.
Rudy Fernandez buried a three-pointer while Mallet stopped a fast
break to hit another one from downtown that broke the game open, 46:31.
Ricky Rubio set up fast break layup that made 54:35. There was no way
for Akasvayu to come back. In the last quarter the teams exchanged
baskets that led to 79:54 win and a trophy for a new ULEB Cup champion!
In the game for the third place Dynamo Moscow overcame Galatasaray Cafe
Crown 84:67. Galatasaray could not finish its amazing ULEB Cup run with
a final win.
Sergei Monya (204-F-83) paced the winners with 17 points.
Robertas Javtokas (211-C-80, agency:
Interperformances, college:
Arizona) collected 14 and 9 rebounds, while Milos Vujanic had 13
points. Erdem Turtekem top-scored with 16 points for Galatasaray.
