Ukraine registered the initial victory at the U18 European Championship. They held off Germany in the decisive battle for both teams in Group A. Vladyslav Koreniuk (206-C-94) nailed 19 points to lead the winners as they advanced to the next stage of the tournament after the victory.
Ukraine held Germany to 13 points in the opening quarter to take a 3-point lead. But Germany answered with an aggressive defence in the second term. They limited Ukraine to 8 points to surge ahead. The German team accumulated a 29:24 halftime advantage. Germany extended the lead in the third quarter. David Taylor (188-PG-95) posted 6 points in the period and Germany entered the fourth quarter up by 8 points 50:42. Ukraine used an 8:1 run to cut the deficit to a single point 55:56. Lugovtsov drained a triple to put Ukraine in front 58:57 with just over a minute remaining. Shevchenko stretched the lead to three points and then David Taylor missed a three-point attempt as Ukraine escaped with a key victory at the end. Igor Boyarkin (185-PG-95) notched 10 points, 8 assists and 5 boards, while Volodymyr Pishchikov (187-SG-94) and Stanislav Kudrya (189-PG-95) added 6 points each for the winners. David Taylor and Malik Mueller (188-G-94) responded with 12 points each for Germany.

SK Cherkasy Monkeys (Superleague) signed experienced 34-year old Russian-Nigerian center Aleksey Adediran (202-110kg-82, college: Binghamton). He played last season at Energy Invest Rustavi in Georgia Superleague. In 6 games he had just 2.5ppg and 1.2rpg. BC Kremen Kremenchuk (Superleague) confirmed in their roster American point guard Rob Woodson (180-84kg, college: Grand Valley State). He played there last season. Woodson's team made it to the Superleague Semifinals. He was voted All-GLIAC 2nd Team in 2014 at his college time. Woodson is quite experienced player. Best's pro career starts at Cherkasy - 3 days ago

SK Cherkasy Monkeys (Superleague) tabbed 23-year old American forward Mike Best (208-98kg-93). He just graduated from Cal-Irvine (NCAA). Best has played there for the last five years. In 38 games he averaged 9.8ppg and 5.1rpg last season. Best helped them to make it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team.
