Ukraine registered the initial victory at the U18 European Championship. They held off Germany in the decisive battle for both teams in Group A. Vladyslav Koreniuk (206-C-94) nailed 19 points to lead the winners as they advanced to the next stage of the tournament after the victory.
Ukraine held Germany to 13 points in the opening quarter to take a 3-point lead. But Germany answered with an aggressive defence in the second term. They limited Ukraine to 8 points to surge ahead. The German team accumulated a 29:24 halftime advantage. Germany extended the lead in the third quarter. David Taylor (188-PG-95) posted 6 points in the period and Germany entered the fourth quarter up by 8 points 50:42. Ukraine used an 8:1 run to cut the deficit to a single point 55:56. Lugovtsov drained a triple to put Ukraine in front 58:57 with just over a minute remaining. Shevchenko stretched the lead to three points and then David Taylor missed a three-point attempt as Ukraine escaped with a key victory at the end. Igor Boyarkin (185-PG-95) notched 10 points, 8 assists and 5 boards, while Volodymyr Pishchikov (187-SG-94) and Stanislav Kudrya (189-PG-95) added 6 points each for the winners. David Taylor and Malik Mueller (188-G-94) responded with 12 points each for Germany.

Superleague Round 5: Winless Zaporizhye lose another game - 1 day ago
After 5 rounds played we can already see who rules in the Superleague and who belongs to weaker ones. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Leader Khimik blasted bottom-ranked Zaporizhye (0-5) in Yuzhny 105-78 on Sunday evening keeping the perfect record after 5 rounds. Zaporizhye is still unable to win any game. Juventus-LKSK Utenos (LKL) signed 30-year old Ukrainian international power forward Maxym Korniyenko (205-100kg-87). He played last season at Lukoil Academic Sofia in Bulgarian NBL league. In 35 NBL games he had 11.6ppg, 6.9rpg, 1.4apg and 1.0bpg. He helped them to win the league title. A very impressive season as he was voted Eurobasket.com All-Bulgarian League Bosman Player of the Year, named to 1st Team and named to All-Imports Team. Utah Jazz (NBA) waived 23-year old Ukrainian international forward Joel Bolomboy (206-107kg-94, college: Weber State). Bolomboy played there last season. But in 14 NBA games he recorded just 1.9ppg and 1.4rpg (leader !!!). Last year he was drafted by the Jazz in second round (52nd overall).
