Randy
Culpepper
American guard Randy Culpepper (182-G-89) had a very impressive game in the last round for Ferro-ZNTU, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 23-year old player recorded a triple-double of 26 points addeding also 11 rebounds and 10 assists, while his team beat Kryvbasbasket (#9, 1-2) 90-81. Ferro-ZNTU is placed at 4th position in Ukrainian Superleague. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Ferro-ZNTU won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Culpepper had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 10 attempts. It's his second year at Ferro-ZNTU and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Randy Culpepper averages just after two games 22.5ppg, 7.0rpg and 9.0apg.

The second best player in last round's games was 34-year old American Justin Love (189-G-78) of BC Odessa. Love had a very good evening with 21 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as BC Odessa lost that game 77-82 to league's leader Budivelnyk (#3, 2-0). This loss caused BC Odessa to slide to the very bottom (14) position in the standings. 3 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Love is well-known at BC Odessa and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.7ppg (#4).

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard James Florence (185-G-88, agency: Pro One Sports) of Kryvbasbasket (#9). Florence showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the last round. Despite Florence's great performance Kryvbasbasket lost 81-90 to the league's current leader Ferro-ZNTU (#4, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Kryvbasbasket not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Florence could try to bring Kryvbasbasket's a little bit higher in the standings. Florence has individually a great season in Ukraine. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.3ppg (best scorer) and assists with 5.3apg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Leo Lyons (206-F-87) of Budivelnyk - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Ryan Pearson (198-F-90) of Hoverla - 13 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Kyndall Dykes (190-SG-87) of Hoverla - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Cameron Moore (208-F-90) of Ferro-ZNTU - 15 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Jeremy Chappell (191-G-87) of Ferro-ZNTU - 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Dario Hunt (203-F-89) of BC Odessa - 11 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Dainius Salenga (197-F-77) of Budivelnyk - 13 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Andriy Khokhonyk signs at Niko-Basket - 5 days ago
Higher League newcomer Niko-Basket Mykolaiv landed 20-year old point guard Andriy Khokhonyk (188-75kg-97). He started the season at MBC Mykolaiv (Superleague). Khokhonyk has played there for the last three years. Superleague was a little too high level for him, where in 20 Superleague games he averaged just 1.1ppg this season. Higher League will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. The last season Khokhonyk played also at Mykolaiv (SL Favorit Sport). Superleague...   [read more]
