Mykolaiv has finally registered their first victory this season after three consecutive loses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Cherkasy (1-3) 76-70 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Mykolaiv made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Strangely Cherkasy outrebounded Mykolaiv 43-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Cherkasy helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the other American import guard Josh Mayo (182-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who added 15 points during the contest. Mykolaiv's coach Agris Galvanovskis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Mykolaiv left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Kryvbasbasket and Cherkasy. It was Cherkasy's third loss in a row. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Superleague top team - Azovmash (5-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked DniproAzot (1-4) in Dniprodzerzhynsk 83-63. The winners were led by American point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) who scored that evening 15 points and 7 assists and Kyryl Natyazhko supported him with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
