The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Budivelnyk as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Budivelnyk defeated 6th ranked Halychyna in Kyiv 80-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Halychyna. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Halychyna won third quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri, agency: Edge Sports) who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Artur Drozdov (200-80) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Budivelnyk's coach Ainars Bagatskis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian power forward Vladan Vukosavljevic (206-84, agency: Beo Basket) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Undefeated Budivelnyk (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Halychyna at the other side keeps the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with Hoverla. Halychyna will play next round against strong Azovmash trying to get back on the winning streak. Budivelnyk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.

Suad Sehovic contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Khimik's coach Zoran Martic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Jeremy Chappell (191-87, college: Robert Morris) answered with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for Ferro-ZNTU. Khimik moved-up to second place, which they share with Azovmash. Ferro-ZNTU at the other side dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. They share it with BC Donetsk. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Bottom-ranked BC Kyiv (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 81-69 loss to seventh ranked Hoverla (3-2) in Kyiv on Sunday evening. Ryan Pearson stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Hoverla's coach Evgeni Murzin used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Vyacheslav Bobrov with 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Hoverla moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Halychyna. BC Kyiv lost their fifth game in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. Hoverla will meet higher ranked BC Donetsk (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BC Kyiv will have a break next round.

In the last game of round 9 Kryvbasbasket defeated BC Odessa in Krivoy Rog 78-69.

Undefeated Ferro-ZNTU (4-1) recorded its first loss in Yuzhny. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Khimik (5-1) 87-79. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ferro-ZNTU. Khimik made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Ferro-ZNTU 49-30 including 19 on the offensive glass. Khimik players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked BC Odessa's (1-5) home loss to tenth ranked Kryvbasbasket (2-3) 69-78 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-12. But BC Odessa won second period 21-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Kryvbasbasket won last quarter 24-17. Forward Vitali Malchevskiy (204-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Winsome Frazier (193-82, college: Mississippi St.) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Kryvbasbasket's coach Karlis Muiznieks used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Canadian guard Hernst Laroche (185, college: N.Mexico St.) with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Dario Hunt (203-89, college: Nevada) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. BC Kyiv - Hoverla 69-81

Bottom-ranked BC Kyiv (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 81-69 loss to seventh ranked Hoverla (3-2) in Kyiv on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Hoverla. BC Kyiv managed to win fourth quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 29-of-37 free shots (78.4 percent) during the game. American forward Ryan Pearson (198-90, college: George Mason) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Patrick Sparks (184-83, college: Kentucky) chipped in 18 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). The 23-year old guard had a double-double of 27 points and ten rebounds, while his team edged out Kremen-2 (#7, 2-14) 94-90.
