Pearson number one in Ukraine for round 20 - Nov 12, 2012

American forward Ryan Pearson (198-F-90) had a very impressive game in the last round for Hoverla, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 20.
The 22-year old player had a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Kryvbasbasket (#8, 6-7) 77-72. Hoverla maintains the 6th position in Ukrainian Superleague. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Hoverla will need more victories to improve their 8-5 record. Pearson turned to be Hoverla's top player in his first season with the team. Former George Mason University star has very solid stats this year. Pearson is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 7.5rpg) and averages impressive 52.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old American James Florence (185-G-88, agency: Pro One Sports) of Kryvbasbasket. Florence had a very good evening with 18 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Kryvbasbasket lost that game 72-77 to slightly higher-ranked Hoverla (#6, 8-5). Kryvbasbasket managed to keep the same 8th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-7 record. Florence is well-known at Kryvbasbasket and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Alan Wiggins (206-F-85) of DniproAzot (#10). Wiggins showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, thirteen rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of DniproAzot, leading his team to a 84-74 win against the lower-ranked BC Odessa (#14, 3-10). The chances of DniproAzot not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 8 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Wiggins could try to bring DniproAzot's a little bit higher in the standings. Wiggins has individually a great season in Ukraine. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.8rpg (4th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Derrick Zimmerman (191-G-81) of DniproAzot - 13 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists
5. Malcolm Delaney (191-G-89) of Budivelnyk - 23 points and 4 rebounds
6. Vladan Vukosavljevic (206-F/C-84) of Halychyna - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Ivan Shkurupiy (200-F-82) of Halychyna - 14 points and 7 rebounds
8. Callistus Eziukwu (208-F/C-85) of Kryvbasbasket - 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Evgeni Annenkov (186-PG-77) of BC Odessa - 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Travis Peterson (208-C/F-85) of Hoverla - 15 points and 10 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
