Higher League top team - Musson (12-0) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat eighth ranked VolinBasket (2-4) in Symferopil 66-57. VolinBasket trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 20-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 57-66 at the end of the game. Musson dominated on the defensive end, holding VolinBasket to just 6 points in second quarter. 24 personal fouls committed by VolinBasket helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Russian center Dmitri Lipovtsev (207-C-86) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and guard Oleksei Zhuk (187-85) chipped in 17 points. At the losing side guard Bogdan Karebin (191-78) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds. VolinBasket's coach Sergei Smityukh rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Musson have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Newly promoted Musson maintains first place with 12-0 record. VolinBasket lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. Musson are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Ternopil-TNEU (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. VolinBasket will play against Koksokh-Stal in Alchevsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Center Sergyi Teleshko (209-92) came up with 24 points and 8 rebounds for Ternopil-TNEU in the defeat. BC-93 Pulsar maintains sixth place with 4-8 record, which they share with Koksokh-Stal. Ternopil-TNEU lost their eighth game in a row. They still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with BK Kremen. BC-93 Pulsar will play against higher ranked Tornado (#4) in Odessa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ternopil-TNEU will play on the road against the league's leader Musson (#1) in Symferopil and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Worth to mention a great performance of Jan Selivanov who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Kirovograd's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Koksokh-Stal moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Pulsar. Kirovograd at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Koksokh-Stal's next round opponent will be VolinBasket (#8) in Lutsk. Kirovograd will play at home against Avantazh-Politekhnik in Kharkov and it may be a tough game between close rivals.


Ternopil - Pulsar 75-95

Bottom-ranked Ternopil-TNEU (0-8) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to sixth ranked BC-93 Pulsar (4-8) 95-75. The game was mostly controlled by BC-93 Pulsar. Ternopil-TNEU was better in second period 26-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC-93 Pulsar forced 22 Ternopil-TNEU turnovers. Guard Ilya Shemosyuk (188-85) nailed 29 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and guard Taras Shaniuk (180-92) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four BC-93 Pulsar players scored in double figures. Power forward Aleksander Kolomiychuk (202-91) contributed with 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Koksokh-Stal players scored in double figures. Forward Aleksandr Kosenkov (205-90) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and center Mikhailo Nejzhmak (207-87) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Kirovograd. Kirovograd's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Koksokh-Stal moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Pulsar. Budivlenyk Kyiv have announced the hiring of Evgeni Murzin . The specialist will replace Volodymyr Koval at head coaching position. Evgeni Murzin is not new to Budivelnyk. The specialist guided the Kyiv powerhouse back in 2001/2008 seasons. He worked with Hoverla for the last six seasons. Politekhnik wins Higher League - May 13, 2016

Politekhnik won the Higher League beating Zolotoy Vek in the Final campaign 80:67. After 16-16 in the first period, Politekhnik exploded with a massive 22-6 surge and grabbed 16 points at the halftime. Zolotoy Vek managed to reduce to 8 entering the last period, while Politekhnik added a 22-17 rally in the last stanza to seal the victory.
