Wiggins number one in Ukraine for round 27 - Dec 10, 2012

Alan Wiggins
American forward Alan Wiggins (206-F-85) put on an amazing game in the last round for DniproAzot, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 27.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat BC Kyiv (#13, 4-14) 70-61. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. DniproAzot maintains the 11th position in Ukrainian Superleague. DniproAzot is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-11 record. Wiggins turned to be DniproAzot's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of San Francisco star has very solid stats this year. Wiggins is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 8.3rpg).

The second best player in last round's games was young American Jarrod Jones (205-F-90) of BC Kyiv. Jones had a very good evening with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as BC Kyiv lost that game 61-70 to slightly higher-ranked DniproAzot (#11, 7-11). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. BC Kyiv keeps 13th position. 14 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories BC Kyiv managed to get this year. Jones is a newcomer at BC Kyiv, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Lithuanian guard Tomas Delininkaitis (190-G-82, agency: Interperformances) of Cherkasy (#7). Delininkaitis scored 20 points and passed four assists. He was a key player of Cherkasy, leading his team to a 81-80 win against slightly higher-ranked Hoverla (#5, 11-8). Cherkasy needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 9 lost games. Delininkaitis has a very solid season. In 5 games in Ukraine he scored 14.8ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Aleksey Adediran (204-C-82) of Mykolaiv - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Ryan Pearson (198-F-90) of Hoverla - 19 points and 9 rebounds
6. Kyndall Dykes (190-SG-87) of Hoverla - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
7. James Florence (185-G-88) of Kryvbasbasket - 21 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Josh Mayo (182-G-87) of Mykolaiv - 21 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Dario Hunt (203-F-89) of BC Odessa - 7 points and 15 rebounds
10. Sam Muldrow (205-F-88) of DniproAzot - 10 points and 12 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
