Guard Ilya Shemosyuk (188-G-85) had an amazing evening in the last round for Pulsar, receiving a Eurobasket.com Higher League Player of the Week award for round 16. The 27-year old player was the main contributor (40 points, two rebounds and six assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Kirovograd (#8, 5-10) 85-74. Pulsar is placed at 5th position in Ukrainian Higher League. Pulsar is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-9 record. In the team's last game Shemosyuk had a remarkable 58.3% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 7 attempts. It's his second year at Pulsar and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Ilya Shemosyuk has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 25.6ppg. Shemosyuk is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 5.1apg) and averages impressive 2.7spg and 55.7% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was young Anton Mikhaylov (192-F-91) of Avantazh-Pol.. Mikhaylov had a very good evening with 32 points and 8 rebounds. Of course he lead Avantazh-Pol. to another comfortable win outscoring BK Kremen (#9, 0-11) 105-75. Avantazh-Pol.'s 3rd position in the standings has not changed. He plays for the best team in the league and Avantazh-Pol. managed to win all 9 games keeping perfect record. Mikhaylov is one of the most experienced players at Avantazh-Pol. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.0ppg (#5). He also registered 5.8 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was forward Dmitro Ignatenko (199-F-87) of Kirovograd (#8). Ignatenko showcased his all-around game by recording 10 points, sixteen rebounds (!!!) and six assists in the last round. Despite Ignatenko's great performance Kirovograd lost 74-85 to the higher-ranked Pulsar (#5, 6-9). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Kirovograd not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 10 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Ignatenko could try to bring Kirovograd's a little bit higher in the standings. Ignatenko has individually a great season in Ukraine. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.7rpg (#1 in league).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Vasil Sainiev (182-G-89) of Avantazh-Pol. - 16 points, 4 rebounds and 11 assists 5. Aleksander Kolomiychuk (202-C/F-91) of Koksokh-Stal - 22 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Jan Selivanov (200-F/C-79) of Koksokh-Stal - 15 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists 7. The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
