Russian Dmitri Lipovtsev (207-C-86) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Musson and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Higher League Player of the Week award for round 17. The 26-year old center had the game-high 31 points adding six rebounds and three assists for Musson in his team's victory, helping them to beat Khartsyzsk (#2, 12-2) 77-67. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Musson to consolidate first place in the Ukrainian Higher League. Musson has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 15-1. In the team's last game Lipovtsev had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 9 attempts. It's his second year at Musson and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Lipovtsev has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (8th best: 15.6ppg), rebounds (5th best: 6.8rpg) and averages solid 2.1bpg and 51.1% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young guard Oleg Rudakov (190-G-94) of Koksokh-Stal. Rudakov impressed basketball fans with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he lead Koksokh-Stal to another comfortable win outscoring Ternopil (#10, 0-12) 107-81. Koksokh-Stal's 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-10 record. Rudakov is a newcomer at Koksokh-Stal and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was Ilya Shemosyuk (188-G-85) of Pulsar (#5). Shemosyuk got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for eight rebounds and five assists. He was a key player of Pulsar, leading his team to a 80-72 win against the lower-ranked Kirovograd (#8, 5-11). The chances of Pulsar ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Shemosyuk could help Pulsar to bring them higher in the standings. Shemosyuk has a great season in Ukraine. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 25.9ppg (best scorer) and assists with 5.1apg (3rd best). He also has 2.7spg and FGP: 56.1%.
